Larry A. “Lars” Rude Jr., 49 of Starkweather formerly of Devils Lake ND passed away on Christmas Day, December 25, 2021 at Altru Hospital, Grand Forks, ND.
Funeral Services on Saturday, January 1, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. at the Gilbertson Funeral Home, Devils Lake with Reverend Stanley D. Kwiecien officiating. Burial will be in the Sigdal Cemetery, rural Tolna in the spring. Visitation will be held on Friday, December 31, 2021 from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Larry Alvin Rude was born on December 30, 1971 at Williston ND, the son of Larry A. and Linda M. (Neer) Rude Sr. He lived in several locations in his young life, including Williston, Sidney, Montana and Alexander, ND. He graduated from Glenfield-Sutton-McHenry High School with the class of 1990. He continued his education at the University of Mary in Bismarck and Williston State College.
Larry married Amber Lawler on June 14, 1997 in Williston where they established their home. In 1999, they moved to Devils Lake and later Starkweather ND where he lived, worked and raised his family through the years.
Larry was employed at Cenex West, Law Enforcement Center, Dakota Prairie Community Action Agency and REM. At the time of his death he was working the ARCO Service Station off Highway 2.
He was a motorcycle enthusiast, enjoyed fishing, watching football, playing video games and spending time with family and friends.
He has gone from us too soon, but we will cherish his memory in our hearts always.
His family include his wife Amber of Devils Lake; children Collin Rude, Starkweather and Chloe Rude, Devils Lake; father Larry Rude Sr. also of Starkweather; sisters Jackelyn “Tilly” (Chris) Clemenson, Devils Lake and Penni (Jim) Lewis of Sidney; mother-in-law Rita Hardrick also of Sidney; several nieces, nephews and other precious family.
He was preceded in death by his mother Linda, sister Veronica Rude, brother Cary Rude, grandparents Alvin and Pearl Rude, Jim and Sylvia Neer, father-in-law Ken Hardrick.
Honorary Bearers will be Bruce Hagen, Trent Haner, Brad Cluchie, Kenny Neer Jr., Dan Neer and all of Lar’s nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. Music will be provided by the Ternes Family.
