Laurel L. “Lori” (Howatt) Erickson, 64 of Maddock formerly of Devils Lake, ND passed away on Wednesday evening, September 26, 2018 at her home in the loving care of her family and Altru Hospice.
Funeral Services for Laurel will be held on Tuesday, October 2, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Olaf Lutheran Church, rural Minnewaukan, ND with Reverend Allen Campbell officiating. Burial will be in St. Michael’s Cemetery, Wales, ND.
Visitation will be held at the Gilbertson Funeral Home, Devils Lake on Monday, October 1, 2018 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with a time of prayer and remembrance at 7:00 p.m. Visitation on Tuesday will be at the church one hour prior to the funeral service.
Laurel Louise, daughter of Maurice and Phyllis (Fischer) Howatt was born on April 6, 1954 at Langdon, ND. She was raised and educated in the Hannah area, graduating from Hannah High School in 1972.
Laurel’s priority in life was loving, caring for and providing for her four children. The family lived in Devils Lake for many years and Lori worked at Gate City Bank retiring in the spring of 2016.
Lori felt blessed to find love when she met Paul Erickson in 2003 and they were united in marriage on September 4, 2010 at St. Olaf Lutheran Church, rural Minnewaukan, ND. They made their home in Maddock through the years. Lori was a member of St. Olaf Lutheran Church and the Harlow VFW Auxiliary.
Every moment of Lori’s spare time was spent attending all the events of her grandchildren and spending many fun times at family gatherings. She and Paul loved to travel around the US, the West Coast, Tennessee and many other states. They were frequent travelers to those distant family and friends.
Lori is survived by her loving family. Her husband Paul; son Jason Bergman of Maddock; daughters Kari (Frank) Rodriguez, Maddock, Megan (Daniel) Smith, Colorado and Danelle Hanson, Fargo; step children Nicole Erickson, Korie Erickson and Chris Erickson all of Boring, Oregon; grandchildren Isabella and Lily Bergman, Aiden, Kaleb and Mykelti Rodriguez and Jose Armenta; brothers and sister Gerald (Patty) Howatt and Rod (Connie) Howatt all of Langdon, Shawn (Bonnie) Howatt, Starkweather and Susan (Mark) Estenson, Devils Lake; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters Sharon Faul and Bonnie Zeis; brothers Tom, Bradley and Mark Howatt.
