Laurie Ann Roed, 56 of Devils Lake passed away on Saturday, August 21, 2021 at Altru Hospital in Grand Forks.
Mass of Christian Burial for Laurie will be on Friday, August 27, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church with the Very Reverend C.F. Wilhelm celebrating the Mass. Interment will be in St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery. Gathering of family and friends on Thursday, August 26th at St. Joseph Catholic Church from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. with a Rosary, Scripture Service and Time of Remembrance at 7:00 p.m. led by Deacon Ken Severinson. The funeral Mass will be live-streamed via Facebook.com/stjosephdvl.
Laurie Ann, youngest daughter of Bert and Luetta (Neil) Roed was born on October 14, 1964 in Devils Lake. She was reared and educated in Devils Lake, attending Prairie View Elementary School and graduating in 1982 from Devils Lake Central High School. She continued her education at Lake Region Junior College and graduated with an Associate’s Degree in Liberal Arts.
Laurie was united in marriage to Keith Kraft on July 16, 1983 at St. Joseph Catholic Church. They established their home in Devils Lake where they lived, worked, made a beautiful life together and were the proud parents of two precious daughters Chelsi and Courtney. Laurie worked as a bookkeeper in several area businesses, then in 1995, she and Keith became the owners and operators of Service Tire. Keith died on February 22, 2014.
Laurie was an active member of St. Joseph Church, St. Elizabeth Circle and was a Eucharistic Adorer. She enjoyed playing in a dart league for many years and other community events. She had a passion for gardening. Her back yard was her “Garden of Eden”. She looked forward to helping out at Paula’s Greenhouse whenever needed. Laurie was a world traveler. She visited every island of Hawaii, Jamacia, Rome, Alaska and many other places, she was especially drawn to places that boasted a much warmer climate than North Dakota.
Laurie called Devils Lake home her entire life. She had many life-long friends and family she shared her life with and felt so blessed to find love again in 2017 when she met David Trottier.
We can’t imagine life without our loving, caring, generous, remarkable Laurie. She loved her children and grandchildren with her whole heart. Family and friends were such important people in her life. She knew and loved her Lord and Savior and believed in His promises. We will carry you in our hearts and memory forever.
Laurie’s loving family include her 2 daughters and 2 grandchildren Chelsi (Ryan) Schroeder and children Brody Keith Kraft and Madilynn Schroeder of Devils Lake and Courtney Kraft and fiancé Connor Schmidt of Fargo ND; siblings Bonnie (Joe) Keller, Bakersfield CA, Bill (Pat) Roed, Devils Lake, Vickie (Robert) Schneider, Crary ND and Terry (Tina) Roed, Arlington WA; sisters-in-law Judy Roed, Minot ND and Michelle Roed-Nack, Mesa AZ; special friend David Trottier, Rugby ND; mother-in-law Mary Kraft, Devils Lake; special circle of friends Devonna Brenno, Lisa Craddock, Rhonda Juntunen and Cindy Geske and many dear aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and in-laws.
Family who preceded her in death; her parents, husband Keith, brothers Gary Roed and Rick Roed, sister-in-law Tina Kraft and father-in-law Lawrence Kraft.
