Lavina K. Lemieux

Lavina Lemieux, 80, left us for a better place on February 11, 2018.  She passed away at her home with family at her side.

Lavina Katherine (Armstrong) Lemieux was born May 19, 1937 at Rolette, ND to Seward “Chub” and Lucille “Toots/Granny” (Bishop) Armstrong. She graduated from Rolette in 1955.  Later in life, she attended and graduated from Turtle Mountain Community College in Belcourt, ND. 

Lavina and Howard Lemieux were married June 15, 1955 in Thorne, ND. Aside from a short time of living in Great Falls, MT., Howard and Lavina made the farm their home.  Lavina was an active farmwife while raising their six children.

Lavina worked for a time in the Rolette Hospital Dietary Department. She then provided homemaking and respite care services for the elderly.  As we all know, Lavina liked to be on the go-so she learned to drive a semi and obtained her CDL in 1990.  Howard and Lavina drove semi across the United States together.  Lavina also cooked in the local café, delivered Meals on Wheels, and volunteered in various capacities.  She liked to cook and bake. No crowd at her table was ever too big!

To fill any spare time, Lavina enjoyed crocheting, gardening, crafts, reading books, visiting and loving her cats. A great interest of Lavina’s was genealogy.  She explored the Lemieux and Armstrong families in-depth and wrote history books for each. 

Lavina is survived by her husband, Howard of Rolette; children-Pat (Andy) Beaver, Doug (Kimberly), Robert (Connie), Vicky, all of Rolette; and, Carolyn (Terry) Meester of West Fargo. Grandchildren; Heather (Ty) Smith, Jennifer (Matt) Goettle; Joan (Brian) McIntyre, Keith (Jess) Sebelius, Paula (Scott) Hekman, Jarrett Meester; Pierre Lemieux, Mario (Nicole) Lemieux, Kaydee (Matthew) Pederson, Adrian (Kylee) Lemieux; Jacob Lemieux and Adam Lemieux; and, Emma Landrus; seventeen great grandchildren; brother Glenn (Cathy) Armstrong. 

Lavina was preceded in death by her son, Dwight; her parents, Seward and Lucille; her in-laws Joe and Iva (Everson) Lemieux and infant grandchild Jamie Sebelius.

A Prayer Service and Rosary will be Friday, February 16^th at 7:00 p.m. and the Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday, February 17^th at 11:00 a.m.  All will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Rolette, ND with Father Paulraj Thondappa as the celebrant.  Burial will be in Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery, rural Rolette.
