Lawrence “Larry” Littleghost III, 34 of Sisseton, South Dakota, formerly of St. Michael, ND passed away on Friday, July 31, 2020 at Sanford Medical Center, Fargo ND.
Mass of Christian Burial for Lawrence will be held on Friday, August 7, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Michael’s Catholic Church, St. Michael, ND with Father Paul Schuster officiating. Larry will be laid to rest in the St. Michael Catholic Cemetery, St. Michael, ND. Visitation will be held at the Gilbertson Funeral Home, Devils Lake on Thursday, August 6th from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. The procession will leave from the Gilbertson Funeral Home on Thursday, August 6th at 4:30 pm. Visitation will continue at St. Michael’s Catholic Church beginning at 5:00 pm with a Rosary and Scripture Service at 7:00 pm. Please keep your safety and health and that of others in mind when attending the visitation and funeral Mass.
Lawrence Littleghost III, son of Carole (Whiteshield) and Lawrence Littleghost Jr. was born at Mercy Hospital in Devils Lake, ND on September 19, 1985. Larry spent his childhood growing up on the Spirit Lake Nation, playing, laughing and enjoying life with his siblings and parents.
He enjoyed playing sports and working out. He liked riding around, spending time with his friends, cooking, drawing and reading. Most of all he liked going hunting with his Dad.
Larry made his home in Sisseton, SD with his wife and two children. He treasured being a father, because he spent many joyous days playing with his children and teaching them as they grew each day.
Lawrence Littleghost III is survived by his loving family. His wife Lenore (Palacio) Littleghost; his children Michael Littleghost, Lawrence Littleghost IV, Aisha Rae Ironhawk and adopted daughter Kayla Felicia; mother Carole Littleghost; grandmothers Helena Littlghost, Elizabeth Littleghost, Pauline Greywater and Elaine Robertson; aunts Elaine (Duane) Guy, Noreen Littleghost, Sharon Brien, Jeaneen (Jose) Littleghost-Trevino and Bernadine (Lee) Whiteshield; uncles Freeman Whiteshield and Loren Littleghost; brothers Josh Littleghost, Terrence Ross and Christopher Whiteshield; sisters Angelic Littleghost and LaDeen Littleghost; many cousins, nephews and nieces.
Larry was preceded in death by his father Lawrence Littleghost Jr., brothers Cheyenne Littleghost and Lucas Littleghost, sister Geraldine Ross, uncles Richard Whiteshield, Stacey Littleghost and Wilson Whiteshield, aunts Wanda Littleghost, LuAnn Littleghost, Karen Littleghost, Mary “Noonie” Lovejoy, MaryAnn Blackbull, Tina Whiteshield, Doris Whiteshield, Nita Whiteshield and Donna Mae Whiteshield and grandparents Lawrence Littleghost Sr. and Agnes Littleghost, Felix and Lucille Whiteshield.
Active Pallbearers will be Mark Littleghost, Richard Littleghost, Freeman Whiteshield, Felix Whiteshield, Desi Longcrow, Dakota Whiteshield, Gerald Longie and Josh Littleghost. Honorary Bearers will be the Sanford Hospital Staff in Fargo, Paulette Lenoir and Family, CheBon Eastman, Rayce Hill, Dawn Vivier, Vanessa Norris, Cher Piez, Jenny Dumarce, Martena Johns, Tamera Miyasato, Bobbi Martin, Dallas LaCroix, Genevieve Pino, Anpa OneFeather, Navah Keeble, Mandy IronBear, Rose PlentyArrows, Stephen Heath II, Doug Desjarlait, Circle of Nations Classmates, graduating class of Flandreau Indian School.
