Leona M. Schell

Leona Mae Swanson Schell joined her parents Rudolph and Ethel Swanson in Heaven on Tuesday, July 3, 2018 at 5:53 p.m.  She was surrounded by family and prayed for by those that desperately tried to get to her. 

Leona loved yard work and grew many flowers.  She spent many hours being comforted by her pets.  The family requests donations be made to Turtle Mountain Animal Rescue, Rolla, ND in her name.

Thank you to all who touched her life.  She was loved by many and always looked forward to meeting with each and every one of you. 

Leona is survived by her husband Donald J. Schell; daughter Audrey and (Paul )Eads; son John and( Lorrie) Sandberg; step daughter Adell Starkovich; step-son Donald Schell Jr.; grandchildren: Dale (Amanda) Ellingson, Cody (Julie) Ellingson, Tonya (Nick) Knudson and Molly Starkovich; great grandchildren Andrew, Ethan, Aaron, Makayla, Ayden, Abby, Preston, Cole, Alonah, Lena and Alyssa; great great granddaughter Luna; sister Viola M. Dionne; sisters-in-law Ruth Swanson, Diane Schell, Rossie Streifel, Audrey Schell, Kay Schell and Darlene Schell; brothers-in-law Gerald Schell and Harlon Schell; several nieces and nephews. 

Leona was 84 when she started her new adventure.  She was greeted in Heaven by her parents Rudolph and Ethel Swanson; brother Leo Swanson Sr.; father-in-law and mother-in-law Frank and Eva Schell; brothers-in-law Jack Schell and Fritz Streifel, Granddaughter Amanda Jenson. 

Leona chose to be cremated so there will be no viewing.  Services will be held at the Gilbertson Funeral Home, Devils Lake on Friday, July 13, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. with Reverend Jim Paulson, Pastor St. Olaf Lutheran Church officiating.  Burial will follow at Devils Lake Cemetery.
