Linda Mae Ehnert

Linda M. (Ellefson) Ehnert, 73 of Devils Lake formerly of Maddock, ND passed away on Sunday, June 17, 2018 at Altru Hospital, Grand Forks surrounded by her loving family. 

Funeral Services for Linda will be held on Thursday, June 28, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Olaf Lutheran Church, Devils Lake with Reverend Lori Broschat officiating. Burial will be in the Devils Lake Cemetery.  Visitation at the Gilbertson Funeral Home, Devils Lake on Wednesday, June 27^th from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. and will continue at the church on Thursday one hour prior to the funeral service.

Linda Mae, daughter of Ingvold and Alma (Nelson) Ellefson was born on May 1, 1945 at Maddock, ND. She grew up on a farm northwest of Maddock and graduated from the BCATS (Benson County Agricultural and Training School) with the class of 1963.  She continued her education at Interstate Business College in Fargo. 

Linda was united in marriage to her middle school sweetheart, Curtis Ehnert on August 28, 1966 at North Viking Lutheran Church in Maddock. They established their home in Devils Lake where they lived, worked and raised their family.   Linda had worked for a short time at the Maddock Bank and after moving to Devils Lake she was employed at Western State Bank for 15 years.  For the next 24 years, Linda worked for the Devils Lake Public School System in the Food Service department until increasing health problems forced retirement. 

For 8 years, Linda and Curtis were the live-in caretakers of the Devils Lake Rural Fire Department and Linda also operated a Day Care and worked part-time as a bartender at the Elks.

Even though cooking was her occupation, Linda never tired of cooking and baking for her job, her hobby and all the favorites for her family and friends. She was an avid reader, always enjoyed gardening and loved the produce but her true joy was in tending her flowers.  Linda faithfully served on the board of Lake Region Corporation for several years.

Linda’s courageous battle against cancer taught us all to love more deeply, to have hope and count our many blessings each day.

Linda’s loving family includes her husband of 51 years, Curtis; daughter Darcie Ehnert, Devils Lake and sons Chad (Alisha) Ehnert also of Devils Lake and Brock (Tara) Ehnert of Stillwater, MN; grandchildren Morgan, Breydin, Isabelle and Atticus; sisters Joyce Ellefson and Joan Waagen both of Bottineau, ND; many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and in-laws Charles and Wilma Ehnert.

Casket Bearers for Linda will be Steve Waagen, David Waagen, Lynn Nord, Tyler Nord, Cayce Stute and Josh Waagen. Music will be provided by Dennis and Jean Aardahl.
