Linda Kay Johnson was born on October 2, 1944 to Lloyd and Bertha Johnson in Devils Lake, and was raised on a farm north of town. She attended grade school in the Minnewaukan #3 one-room schoolhouse, and completed her education at Devils Lake Central in 1963.
Linda was united in marriage to Ken Hunt on October 18, 1963. They started their life together on a small farm northeast of Devils Lake. In 1966, they moved to Crary and together raised their 3 children; Chad, Corey, and Carrie. While being a stay-at-home mother and housewife, Linda also babysat for children in the Crary area. Years later when Linda’s children were grown, she became a caregiver and housekeeper for families in the Lakota, Crary, and Devils Lake areas. She cared deeply for all that she worked for.
During their years in Crary, Linda was an active member of 1st Lutheran Church, and Ladies Aid, as well as teaching Sunday School. When 1st Lutheran Church closed, Ken and Linda became members of St. Olaf Lutheran Church in Devils Lake. There, she was also active in Ladies Aid, and Quilting.
In October of 1995, Ken and Linda bought the Topper Motel and moved to Devils Lake. They managed the motel until February 2001. After retirement, they spent the winter months in Mesa, Arizona.
Linda enjoyed quilting, crafts, and baking, but most of all treasured the time spent with her family and friends. Her warm hospitality was extended to whomever came to visit. This continued even during the last year of her life, while she was in the nursing home. She kindly welcomed all who visited her, and always offered them something to eat or drink.
Linda is survived by her husband of 55 years, Ken, her sons Chad (Karen) Hunt, Devils Lake, Corey (Paula) Hunt, Bismarck, daughter Carrie (Joel) Nett, West Fargo. 5 Grandchildren, Kendell (Chantell) Hunt, Stanley, ND, Christopher Hunt, Plaza, ND, Seth Hinger, Bismarck, ND, Madison Hunt, Bismarck, and Isaac Nett, West Fargo.
