Lori L. Stevenson

Lori Stevenson, a beloved lifelong resident of Devils Lake, passed away at her home on Thursday, October10, 2024. Her kind spirit and dedication to others will forever be cherished by all who knew her.

Lori was born on October 6, 1960, the daughter of Glen and Florence (Michels) Nelson. Growing up in Devils Lake, she received her education locally, proudly graduating from Devils Lake Central High School in 1978. She pursued her passion for nursing, earning her degree as a Licensed Practical Nurse from Lake Region Junior College in December 1982.

Throughout her life, Lori exemplified compassion and commitment in her work. She devoted many years to serving others at the Good Samaritan Center and later at the Lake Region Lutheran Home, which eventually became Heartland Care Center. For the past seven and a half years, she worked at the Lake Region District Health Unit, where her dedication knew no bounds. If there was a need, Lori would be there, pouring her heart into her vocation with unwavering determination.

Family brought Lori immense joy. She was once married to Jerry Stevenson, and together they welcomed their cherished son, Jory. Lori counted her blessings each day for the gift of her son, treasuring every moment spent with him.

Lori felt so blessed to have been able to share the past 15 years with Garry Vick. They enjoyed many years at their Stump Lake camp sight, visiting with old friends and making new ones.

A lifelong lover of nature and horses, Lori found peace and happiness out on the trails, embracing the beauty of the world around her. Her caring nature extended far beyond her immediate family; she was a steadfast friend, always ready to lend a hand to anyone in need. Her legacy of love and care will resonate through the lives she touched.

Lori is survived by her dear son Jory and his fiancée Kristen Ternes, her beloved companion Garry Vick, brother Dan (Pam) Nelson, nephew Mark Hagen, niece Molly (Hagen) Davis, several cherished cousins, and many close friends who will miss her deeply.

She was preceded in death by her parents, brother, and sister-in-law Mike and Mary Hagen, and her special friend Larry Schmidt.

In honor of Lori’s remarkable life, funeral services will be held on Friday, October 18, 2024, at 2:00 PM at Bethel Evangelical Free Church in Devils Lake.

Lori's loving spirit will forever remain in our hearts, reminding us of the power of kindness and the importance of caring for one another.
