Lorraine Ardis Smith

Lorraine A. Smith, 36 of Belcourt and Fort Totten ND passed away on Friday, May 14, 2021 at Trinity Medical Center in Minot ND. 

The Wake for Lorraine will be held at the Eagle Heart Log House, in Dunseith ND on Thursday, May 20, 2021 beginning at 5:00 p.m. with a Prayer Service at 7:00 p.m.  Clark Peltier will officiate.  A Graveside Service will be held on Friday, May 21, 2021 at 12:30 p.m. at the St. Thomas Presbyterian Cemetery, (Raven Hill Cemetery) at rural Fort Totten.  The procession to the cemetery will leave from the Log Cabin at 10:00 a.m. on Friday. 

Lorraine Ardis Smith, precious daughter of Dwight and Rhea (Iron Moccasin) Smith was born on February 10, 1985 in Devils Lake ND.  She was raised and educated in Fort Totten ND.  Lorraine and David “Huck” Bercier were the proud parents of daughter Shayleigh.  At the time of her death she was living in Belcourt ND with her special friend, Sage Peltier, her beloved daughter Shayleigh Ann Bercier and her beautiful grandson Monte James Henry. 

Lorraine was attending GED classes in Belcourt and was so excited to finish and receive her diploma. She was so ecstatic and proud of her daughter Shayleigh who was in her Senior Year and would be receiving her diploma in June.  She couldn’t wait to see her daughter walk across that stage, meaning they would have both succeeded in receiving their High School diplomas.

Lorraine enjoyed beading, artful coloring and KEYA Bingo.  She had a green thumb and had many thriving houseplants and flowers.  She never missed a chance to attend family gatherings and cookouts.  She just loved anytime she could spend with her daughter, grandson and extended family.  They brought her so much joy and happiness. 

Our beloved daughter, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, niece, cousin and dearest friend will be forever in our hearts, forever loved and forever missed. 

Lorraine’s loving family include her daughters Shayleigh Ann Bercier and grandson Monte James Henry and Kaylee J. Bercier and Autumn L. Bercier; parents Dwight and Rhea; special friend Sage Peltier; brothers and sisters Pepper (Dom Vann) Iron Moccasin, Clinton A. McKay, Carlin M. Iron Moccasin, Larissa McKay and sister-in-law Lorenda S. TwoHeart (McKay); grandpa Frances (Babe) Smith; special nieces and nephews Aiyanna and Ashton Smith, Richard Parisien Jr., Dezmond Smith,  Kenneth Iron Moccasin, Kevin LaFontaine Jr., Destiny Robertson, Jaelyn R. TwoHearts, Julia K. TwoHearts and many other nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins who Lorraine treasured and loved very much. 

She was welcomed into Heaven by her Creator and her grandparents Vivian Shaw, Jerry Adams and Lorraine Smith, sisters Rollene Faith Smith, Angela Smith and Rhiannon Smith, brother Alvin Iron Moccasin and many other beloved relatives. 

Casket Bearers will be Dom Vann, Mark Shaw, Kevin LaFontaine Jr., Arlin BlackLance, Rodney Martin and Dawson Zerr.  Honorary Bearers will be Shayleigh Bercier, Pepper Iron Moccasin, Larissa McKay, Jaelyn TwoHearts, Julia TwoHearts and Kaylee Bercier.  Music will be provided by Red Thunder and Derek Poitra.
