Louise M. Rham (Fazekas)

Louise M. Rham, 98 of Devils Lake formerly of Sarles and Rock Lake, ND passed away on Friday, April 26, 2019 at Altru Hospital, Grand Forks with family at her side.

Funeral Services for Louise will be held on Wednesday, May 1, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. at St. Olaf Lutheran Church, Devils Lake with Reverend Jim Paulson officiating. Burial will be in the Devils Lake Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Wednesday at the church beginning at 12:00 noon until time of service.

Louise Mildred Fazekas, daughter of George and Mary (Pakoy) Fazekas was born near Calvin, North Dakota on October 8, 1920. She attended school at Mt. Pleasant, later moving to Perth and attending school at Howell.  During her education she worked in cooking shacks for many area threshing crews. 

Louise met and was married to William Rham on February 1, 1944. They settled northeast of Rock Lake on the Stableton Farm where their daughter Janice was born.  Then they made their home one mile east where they farmed for 42 years.  Bill became ill which forced their move to Devils Lake where Louise was still living.  Bill passed away January 26, 1993. 

Louise loved the farm and everything about it. You would find her hauling grain, mowing, baking and gardening.  When she wasn’t occupied with her family or the farm, she dedicated her time to the Sarles Lutheran Church, the Rock Lake VFW and Auxiliary.  She was also a member of St. Olaf Lutheran Church of Devils Lake.  She enjoyed her family, Sundays she always had a meal after church and treats for her grandchildren and ready for a game of cards.  She enjoyed all games, puzzles, Bingo, casinos and snowmobiling with neighbors. 

Louise will be deeply missed by her daughters Janice and husband Dale Samuelson of Sarles; grandson Kevin (Cathy) Samuelson, Sarles; granddaughter Kristine (Randy) Helle of Edmore, ND and one great grandson Brady Samuelson of Sarles; sister Mary Mosolf-MacArthur, Devils Lake; sisters-in-law Clarabel Fazekas, Washington, Betty “BJ” Fazekas, Georgia, Florence Rham, Devils Lake and Lucille Rham, Rolla, ND and many beloved nieces, nephews and their families.

She was preceded in death by her husband Bill, parents George and Mary Fazekas, brothers Art, George Jr., Earl and Fred Fazekas, sister Betty Carnahan and several dear in-laws, nieces and nephews.

Serving as Casket Bearers for Louise will be her family, Dale Samuelson, Kevin Samuelson, Kathy Samuelson, Kristine Helle, Randy Helle and Brady Samuelson.
