Lynn J. Mikkelson, of Devils Lake, ND passed away on Wednesday evening, May 11, 2017 at the Lakota Good Samaritan Center in Lakota. She was 69 years of age. Funeral Services for Lynn will be held on Thursday, May 18, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, Devils Lake with Reverend Reuben Schnaidt officiating. Visitation will be at the church one hour prior to the funeral service on Thursday. Lynn will be laid to rest in the Devils Lake Cemetery. Lynn Joy, daughter of Duane and Evelyn (Bye) Converse was born on July 22, 1947 in Crary, North Dakota where she grew up, and graduated from Crary High School. She also attended college at Mayville State University, Mayville ND. Lynn married and moved to California where her husband was serving in the Navy. They lived, worked and began their family in California. Lynn moved back to the Lake Region with her precious sons, Robert and Michael and she made Devils Lake her home. She worked hard to provide for her family. Lynn worked as a Dispatcher for the Devils Lake Police Department for twelve years then she spent several years working at the VFW . She also worked at the Photo Shop in downtown Devils Lake. After that, she spent many years operating a Day Care out of her home. She was “Grandma” to many, many children who she called her “babies” and loved them all. Lynn was united in marriage to her long-time friend Richard A. Mikkelson on February 24, 2001. They had a happy life together until his death on April 1, 2003. Lynn’s priority was always her children and grandchildren. They were her pride and joy and she treasured every moment spent with them. She was an excellent cook and baker and loved to make everyone’s favorites when they came to visit. She shared her creations with family and friends on many occasions. Lynn enjoyed playing BINGO and going to the Casino for fun. It was a chance to connect with friends old and new. For the past 2 years, Lynn has been in the caring hands of the Lakota Good Samaritan Center. Lynn will be loved and missed and her memory will be carried in our hearts forever. Lynn is survived by her loving family. Her sons Robert Stautz (Marsha) of Bloomington, Indiana, Michael Stautz, Devils Lake and Bob (Adele Johnson) Mikkelson also of Devils Lake; grandchildren Sydney, Evan, Holden, Paige and Shay; aunts Sylvia Conlon, Devils Lake and Gladys Brandt, Minot, ND; several nieces, nephews and cousins and their families. She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter Anita in infancy; husband Richard; sisters Norma Cooper and Diana Fuller and nephew Ryan Giese.
