Marceline "Marcy" A. Herman St. Pierre

Marceline Ann “Marcy” Herman St. Pierre, “Canté Wiyuś Kiya Win” (Strong Heart Woman), 81 of Lakota, formerly of Fort Totten, ND began her Spiritual Journey Home on Saturday, June 3, 2017 surrounded by her loving family. Marceline was born on November 8, 1935 to Flora (Boyer) Herman Culbertson and William Herman Sr. in Fort Totten, ND. Marcy attended Little Flower School in St. Michael, ND and later continued her schooling at the Calvary Square School in Fort Totten.  She loved to play basketball during her school years. Marceline was united in marriage to Walter St. Pierre Sr. in November of 1952 in Dunseith, ND. Of this marriage 9 children were born.  Marcy’s hobbies and interests were making hand quilted Star Quilts, crocheting and singing which was one of her favorite hobbies. She won many singing contests over the years.  She also enjoyed playing BINGO and playing at the Casino. She loved spending time with family and friends, her children and grandchildren and especially her sisters; they were known as the Native “Golden Girls”. They would attend many of the High School basketball games and pow-wows.  Together they would watch their grandchildren play ball and dance at the pow-wows. She loved to tell many stories of the “old days” and she had many stories to tell.   Marcy was formally employed at Mack Farms of East Grand Forks, MN as a truck driver which she greatly enjoyed. She was also a barmaid for many years in East Grand Forks until she moved her family back to Fort Totten in 1979.  Marceline is survived by her loving family. Sons Walter St. Pierre Jr., Grand Forks and Robert (April) St. Pierre, Fort Totten; daughters Marilyn Gravelle, East Grand Forks, Judy (Terry) Kerchenco, Eva (Kevin) St. Pierre all of East Grand Forks, Carrie (Q) Maxwell and Sherry (Todd) St. Pierre all of Devils Lake, Angela (Murle) Richotte Sr. and Adele Thompson all of Fort Totten and Valerie (Pat) Houle, Dunseith; brother Joe (Carol) Herman, Warwick; sisters Estelle (John) Hennager, Leeds and Shirley Culbertson (also her god child), Fort Totten; step father Pierre Culbertson, Fort Totten; sister-in-law Ernestine Herman, Fort Totten; aunt Irene Boyer Martin, Spokane, WA; special friends Grace Morgan, Fargo and Torchy Greene, Fort Totten; thirty grandchildren; thirty-six great grandchildren and seven great great grandchildren; many nephews, nieces and cousins.  March was preceded in death by her parents; husband Walter St. Pierre Sr.; son William “Pat” St. Pierre; brothers James Herman, William “Chummy” Herman Jr., Daniel Herman and Robert Herman Sr.; sisters Patty Shaw and Mary Linda Herman; grandsons Daniel St. Pierre Sr., Mark Fassett Sr., Hadley Smith and Anthony Herman; granddaughter Blisse Thompson; great granddaughters Matisha Fassett, Katie Kaye Posey and Angel St. Pierre; son-in-law Gary J. Gravelle; nephews Robert Herman Jr., William Herman, Justin Littleghost, Scott Herman, Blaine Herman, Doug Herman and Daniel Joseph Herman. Casket Bearers for Marcy will be her grandsons and nephew Lakota Herman, Brandon Posey, Terry Herman Jr., Bernard Montes, Ambrose Thompson III, Darcy Longie, Leonard Richotte and Justin Azure Jr. Honorary Bearers are all of Marcy’s many family and friends. Sorry if we forgot anyone, it was not intentional. Please forgive us at this difficult time. Marcy will be laid to rest in the St. Michael Catholic Cemetery beside loving family members. The Wake for Marcy will be held on Friday, June 9, 2017 at St. Michael’s Recreation Center beginning at 5:00 p.m. with a Rosary and Prayer Service at 7:00 p.m. The procession to St. Michael will leave on Friday at 4:00 p.m. from City Plaza. Funeral Services for Marcy will be held on Saturday, June 10th at 10:00 a.m. also at St. Michael’s Recreation Center with Father Paul Schuster officiating.
