Marcia Laurel Jager

Marcia Laurel (Burgstahler) Jager, 77 of Devils Lake, ND passed away on Tuesday, September 25, 2018 CHI, St. Alexius Hospital, Devils Lake. 

A Memorial Service will be held to remember Marcia on Sunday, September 30, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, Devils Lake with Reverend Tom Westcott officiating. Marcia will be laid to rest in Devils Lake Cemetery.  Lunch will follow the graveside service. 

Visitation will be at the church one hour prior to the funeral service on Sunday.

Marcia Laurel, was born on February 12, 1941 in Fessenden, ND to Walter and Virginia (Taylor) Burgstahler. She was raised in Oberon and graduated with honors from Oberon High School.

On May 23, 1959, Marcia was united in marriage to Edward Michael Jager in Devils Lake. They raised four children together in Devils Lake.

Ed and Marcia enjoyed many activities together over the years, including camping with family and friends at Devils Lake and Max Lake in Manitoba, where they spent time on the lakes in their pontoon boat. She and Ed also enjoyed bowling and participated in bowling league activities in Devils Lake.  Marcia liked to swim, and she and her children participated in family swim time at the Devils Lake pool nearly every day for many summers. They were a family of strong faith and spent time participating in various church activities, including most recently at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church. 

Marcia loved plants and flowers and looked forward to buying and planting colorful flowers each spring that surrounded the borders of their house and filled their porch and deck. She appreciated pets and enjoyed the company of a number of different cats over the years.  She liked to go shopping, including finding great bargains at discount stores. 

Marcia truly loved her family. Over the years there were multiple family gatherings with both the Jager and Burgstahler families, and for many years nearly weekly Sunday family dinners with Marcia’s parents in Oberon.  She was very fond of her grandchildren and in recent years spent much time with her great grandchildren.

Marcia’s loving family include her husband Ed of nearly 60 years; her children Julie Diemert, Lisa Jager, Daniel (Laura) Jager and Michael (Sheila) Jager; grandchildren Mallory (Alex) Walter, Jessie (Tucker) Zimmer, Madison, Jenna, Zephryn and Noah; great grandchildren Mya and Porter Walter; sisters Mona Knight and Susan Burgstahler and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, grandson Levi Jager; son-in-law Jay Diemert and in-laws Sebastian “Sy” and Christine Jager.
