Marie Yvonne (Jetty) Baker, 83 of St. Michael, ND passed away on August 29, 2017 at her home A Wake for Marie will be held on Sunday, September 3, 2017 at the Tekawitha Center, St. Michael beginning at 5:00 pm with a Rosary and Prayer Service at 7:00 pm. The procession to St. Michael will leave on Sunday at 4:00 pm from the City Plaza, Devils Lake. Mass of Christian Burial will be on Monday, September 4th at 10:00 am at St. Michael Catholic Church with Fr. Paul Schuster and Fr. Charles Leute, O.P. concelebrating the Mass. Marie will be laid to rest at St. Michael Cemetery.   Serving as active pallbearers for Marie will be her grandsons Russell Baker, Kelly Mason, Lormen Owlboy, Jr., Roger Baker, Daryl Sager, Randall Baker, Kyle Lawrence, and Mannie Charging. We are sorry if we forgot anyone during this difficult time, it was not intentional. Music will be provided by Spirit Lake Singers, Tony & Vina McDonald. The family welcomes anyone that would like to share their music. Marie Yvonne (Jetty) Baker was born on December 8, 1933 to Ambrose and Frances (Lohnes) Jetty in Fort Totten, ND. She grew up and was educated in St. Michael area. Marie was united in marriage to Moses Baker, Jr. in 1951. They made their home in Fort Totten, Devils Lake, and finally in St. Michael until her time of death. Growing up Marie enjoyed picking berries, working in the garden, planting flowers, and playing with her brothers and sisters. Marie loved cooking so much she made a career out of it cooking for the Elderly Otanka Club, The Fort Totten Jail, and Head Start. She also worked at Sioux Manufacturing Corporation in her early years. Marie was very dedicated to her family. She loved spending time with her grandkids, great grandkids, and great-great grandkids. She enjoyed driving around in her “Slow Indian Moving” car and stopping and visiting everyone. She also enjoyed eating out, watching the Green Bay Packers football, cooking, Bingo, and rummaging. She always kept up on current, community, and family events. She always liked reading newspaper journals and scrapbooking. Everyone who knew Marie knew she was super tidy and liked a very clean home. She was very active in her Catholic faith. Marie’s infectious laugh and smile and colorful personality will be missed. May she rest in everlasting peace. Marie survived by her loving family. Her children Nancy (Joe) Sager of Pekin, ND, Ronald (Verna) Baker of Bismarck, ND, Connie Baker, Pam Baker, Roger Jetty, Kenny Baker Sr., Bob Baker (Emily Longie), Donna Baker, and Kenny Baker, Jr., all of St. Michael, ND. Adopted son-Alton Carl Morin. Adopted daughter Jeanine Littleghost. Sisters Betty Morin and Gloria Jetty. Sister-in-law Vivian Jetty. Adopted family-Harrison/Thompson family; 46 grandchildren, 111 great grandchildren, and 7 great-great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Marie was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brothers-Dave Jetty, Gabriel Jetty; sisters- Doris Morin, Genevieve Nash and Beatrice Abrahamson. Her children Douglas, Dave, and Timmy.
