Mark Wayne Shipley, 59, of Devils Lake, ND passed away on Wednesday evening, May 16, 2018 at CHI, St. Alexius Hospital, Devils Lake surrounded by his family.  

Funeral Services for Mark will be held on Thursday, May 24, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at Ramsey County Event Center (Peterson Arena- 7849 48th Street NE) with Reverend Lori Broschat officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Devils Lake. There will be a visitation period from 11:00-1:00pm. Following the funeral service there will be food and fellowship.  

Mark Wayne, (aka- Boat, Ship, Marley, Papa Marley, Hollywood) son of Charles and Eileen (Deitz) Shipley was born on September 11, 1958 at Mercy Hospital, Devils Lake.  Devils Lake was his home.

Mark attended elementary school at St. Joseph’s School and graduated from Devils Lake High School with the class of 1977.  He served with the North Dakota Army National Guard.

Over the years Mark was employed by Schwan Wholesale, Greater Dakota Homes, MDU, NoDak,  and was self-employed as the owner/operator of Mark’s Mobile Home Services. A man of many talents.

He was very involved in the community and  for many years he served as the chairman of the Poplar Grove Township Board, also served as a North Dakota Township Region 2 Director, was very active in the Lake Region  Snowmobile Club and served as a State Director for Snowmobile North Dakota Board (SND).

Mark was passionate about outdoor activities such as;  snowmobiling, boating, tending to his yard, bird watching, bonfires,  and hanging out with his Hunny, family and friends. Family came first  and he thoroughly enjoyed when everyone “came to the farm.” The highlight of the year  was the annual Shakin’ the Lake, the summer family reunion. All get togethers held special memories for everyone.

Mark is survived by his loving family.  His dear Rebecca Olson, Devils Lake; mother Eileen Railing, Devils Lake; sisters Donna and Bob Reierson, Devils Lake and Char and Terry Peterson, Fargo; brothers Scott and Barb Shipley, West Fargo, ND, Trent and Angela Shipley, Rockford, MN and Jeff and Maria Shipley, Christine, ND.

Rebecca’s daughter, Deirdre and Tyler Hausauer- children Rawley, Callan, and Kaiser
