Marlene Jo Jonas

Marlene Jo Jonas, 60 of Devils Lake, ND passed away on Thursday, October 17, 2019 at Lakota Good Samaritan Care Center.

Marlene Jo was born on January 18, 1959 at Lawton, ND to Marvin and Blanche (McCloud) Jonas. She attended Lawton Public School through grade 7 and continued her education at Devils Lake Public School, graduating with the class of 1977.  Marlene received a Degree in Business from Lake Region State College and went on to pursue further education at UND in Religion and Philosophy. 

Marlene had the time of her life working with people. She worked at Leever’s County Market for 19 years.  Customers and employees brought her joy and happiness.  She also worked at White Mart, Kmart, and Wally’s.  She loved Devils Lake and the people who lived here.

Marlene especially enjoyed time volunteering for the Salvation Army, ringing the bell during the Holiday season for 23 years. It gave her a chance to see and visit people.  Her other passion was watching football and local basketball teams. 

Marlene is survived by her brother James (Denise) Jonas, West Fargo, ND; sisters Marilyn (Tom) Nelson, Seattle, WA and Roxanne Jonas, Buffalo, ND; special friend Tina Sainsbury, Devils Lake and several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents and brothers Gene and Joseph.

Celebration of Life Service for Marlene will be held on Monday, October 28, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at the Bethel Evangelical Free Church in Devils Lake with Pastor David Fix officiating. Marlene will be laid to rest in the Devils Lake Cemetery.

Gathering of family and friends will be on Monday, October 28^th at the church one hour prior to the funeral service.
