Marvin J. Gyldenvand Jr. “Jerry”, 73 of Hampden formerly of Valley City, ND and Millville, MN died November 6, 2019 after a short illness at Eventide Devils Lake Care Center.
Jerry was born on December 15, 1945 in Valley City, ND the son of Mary T. (Shable) and Marvin J. Gyldenvand Sr. He attended Sanborn Public School and graduated from Sanborn High School. He continued his education at Valley City State College. While living in North Dakota, Jerry was a member of the North Dakota Army National Guard.
Jerry was able to lend an expertise to many different occupations including laying water pipe lines in Oregon, worked as an insurance salesman, an office equipment salesman and for many years was employed with Lystad Pest Control.
Jerry was united in marriage to Shari Hinck on November 3, 1973 in Rochester, MN. Jerry then felt a calling to serve his Lord and Savior as an Evangelist for 10 years and as Pastor of Christ Community Church in Lake City/Zumbro Falls, Minnesota area for 30 years. Jerry and Shari called Zumbro Falls/Millville area home for 40 years moving to Hampden, ND in 2013. Jerry continued to minister to the people of the Lake Region until his death.
Jerry served with dedication as a missionary in Zambia, Africa, Haiti, Brazil and Belize. He also ministered to people in his daily activities which included fishing, hunting and spending time with friends and family. At the very moment you were introduced to Jerry, you were his friend. He would pray for you and with you and help you with any need or worry you were dealing with at the moment. He so deeply cared for others, their salvation and helping them to know and love the Lord and Savior.
Jerry is survived by his beloved wife Shari; daughter Nicole (Justin) Jones, Valley City, ND, Nicole’s mother Sharon Clark, Bismarck, ND; daughter Joanna (Jason) Gilmour, Rosemount, MN; son Jesse (Stephanie) Gyldenvand, Oshkosh, WI; grandchildren, Devin Hartman of Williston, ND, Haydn Jones, Valley City, ND ,Amara, Rayna, Bailey, Evelyn, Lincoln and Sierra Gilmour all of Rosemount, MN; great grandson Malakai Hartman of MI; sister Pamela Bong also of Valley City, ND.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral Services at Berean Community Church, 3157 Kenosha Dr. NW Rochester, MN on Saturday, November 30, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. and at Zoar Free Lutheran Church, Hampden, ND on Saturday, December 7, 2019 at 2:00 p.m.
