Mildred P. Solga, 94 of Devils Lake formerly of York, ND passed away on Saturday, May 27, 2018 at the Good Samaritan Center, Devils Lake. Mass of Christian Burial for Mildred will be held on Friday, June 1, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Devils Lake with the Very Reverend C.F. Wilhelm. Burial will be in St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery. Mildred, daughter of Nels and Inga Paulson was born on October 16, 1923 at York, ND. She was reared and educated in York and helped on the family farm. Mildred moved to California and began working at the local telephone company. She met Vincent P. Solga who was serving with the United States Army and was stationed in California. They were united in marriage on August 14, 1947 in Burbank, California and were the proud parents of Maria and Greg. In 1969, the family moved to Devils Lake and Mildred worked for J.C. Penney’s for 18 years until she retired. Mildred enjoyed tending her beautiful yard and keeping her house neat and orderly. Mildred was a devoted wife and mother and cared for Vincent until his death on March 11, 2003. Mildred’s son Greg lovingly cared for his mother for many years and then placed her in the loving care of the Good Samaritan Center for the past 7 years. Mildred’s was a woman of faith with a kind and gentle heart. May she rest in God’s peace. Mildred is survived by her son Greg Solga, Devils Lake; grandsons Tony Solga and Jay McCanna; great granddaughter Reygan; son-in-law Micky McCanna; sister Sylvia Keller, Fargo and brother Eldon “Sonny” (Sylvia) Paulson of Portland, Oregon; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded by her parents; husband Vincent; daughter Maria McCanna; granddaughter Jasmine McCanna; sisters Violet Guidarelli, Mabel Paulson and Inga Paulson and brother Warren Paulson.
