Morris R. Welsh, 78 of Devils Lake, ND passed away peacefully at his home on Saturday, March 21, 2020. Morris Ralph Welsh, son of Jack and Margaret (White) Welsh was born on February 10, 1942 in Walhalla, North Dakota. He was educated in Walhalla and grew up there. He started on his own as a young man, working in the Walhalla area and later at the North Dakota Developmental Center in Grafton, ND. Most of his working life was with road construction, specifically bridge construction and repair. Due to health issues, he was forced to retire several years ago. Morris was united in marriage to Natalie Johnson on November 29, 1991 in Langdon. They lived for a time in Langdon and in 2014 moved to Devils Lake. Morris’s passion was building, fixing, improving and he lived that out doing mechanic work, working with wood, tinkering with anything and everything that needed fixing. He loved to hunt, especially deer hunting with family and friends. He loved his family and his grandchildren never failed to be the bright spot in any day he spent with them. Morris’s loving family include his wife Natalie; children Nicole (Russell) Anthony, Rugby ND, Kristen Welsh (Jeremy Hansen), Devils Lake and Ryan Welsh of Velva ND; grandchildren Lexi, Addi, and Odin; father-in-law and mother-in-law Francis and Barb Johnson, Devils Lake; brother-in-law Brian (Kerri) Johnson, Aberdeen SD and his sisters; several nieces and nephews also survive. He was preceded in death by his parents; several siblings and his beloved dog, JD.
