Muriel A. (Nesdahl) Kopecky

Muriel A. (Nesdahl) Kopecky, 95 of Devils Lake formerly of Sarles, ND passed away Sunday morning, August 6, 2017 at Eventide Heartland Care Center, Devils Lake, ND.  Muriel Armina, daughter of Bert and Myrtle (Taylor) Nesdahl was born on November 13, 1921 on the farm at Emerado, North Dakota. She graduated from the 8th grade at Oakville Township #41 School.  She later received her GED.  At the age of 58 she attended UND and graduated as a Dietary Nutritionist.  She was employed as the Dietary Supervisor at Maple Manor in Langdon for many years and also as the Kitchen Supervisor at the Senior Citizen Center in Soldotna, Alaska when living there.  Muriel was united in marriage to Albin Richard Kopecky on July 29, 1946 and they shared 30 years of a beautiful life together, living, working and raising their family until Albin’s death on February 28, 1976. Muriel’s faith helped her through the good times and the bad times. She made church a priority and attended the Lutheran Church and the United Methodist Church, teaching Sunday School, Confirmation and leading Bible Studies.  She treasured her family, she loved and was faithful about visiting family and going to the family reunions.  She traveled many places with family, to visit family and even a trip to Norway with family.  Muriel lived each day to the fullest. She was an avid gardener, quilter, loved walking and exercising.  She never thought she was too old to experience new things.  Well into 60’ and 70’s, she took up bowling, golf, dart, billiards and artistic painting.  She loved watching bull riding with her friend Ruby.  What Muriel always treasured the most was her family. Her legacy of unconditional love and that feisty spirit will live on in her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Muriel is survived by her children Armina “Kaye” Hennager, Devils Lake, Kenneth (Teri) Kopecky, Kenai, AK, Louise Pesek, Devils Lake, Shirley (John) Dotson, Topeka, KS, William “Bill” (Jill) Kopecky and Lillian (Rick) Weed all of Soldotna, AK; 14 grandchildren Judy Viver, Charlie and Darrin Hennager; Laura Whited, Carl Kopecky, Tiffany Iverson; Misty Wallace; Mindee Boyles, Stephanie and Abby Dotson; Barb and Paul Kopecky; Lindsey Holland and Ryan Weed; 36 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren; sister Elva LaFave, Colorado and many nieces and nephews.
