Myron J. Spotted Horse

Myron R. Spotted Horse “Pte Bdoka Duta” (Red Bull) 59 of Fort Totten ND passed away peacefully in the loving care of his family on Monday, May 31, 2021.

The Wake for Myron will be held on Friday, June 4, 2021 beginning at 5:00 p.m. at the Fort Totten Recreation Center with a time of prayer and remembrance at 7:00 p.m.  The procession to Fort Totten will leave at 4:00 p.m. on Friday from City Plaza. 

Funeral Services for Myron will be on Saturday, June 5th at 10:00 a.m. at the Fort Totten Recreation Center with burial in the Lighthouse Assembly of God Cemetery.  Reverend Larry Thiele, Pastor of Dakotah Oyate Lutheran Church will officiate. 

Myron Raymond Spotted Horse was born to Philip and Vivian (Dunn) Spotted Horse on October 16, 1961 in Devils Lake ND.  He attended school at Fort Totten ND, then attended Kicking Horse Job Corp in Montana earning certification in Auto Mechanics.  He continued his education at the Northland Community Technical College in East Grand Forks MN receiving welding and electrical wiring certification. 

Myron’s passion was his music.  He was a lead guitarist and vocal singer with his brothers Tommy and Emery Spotted Horse, his friends-Bentley GreyBear, Farron Liggett, Farron Ziebart and Charles Morin.  The band was called “Myron and the Rockin Rebels”.  They had traveled all over in North Dakota and Montana.  He was so proud to have opened for William and Ree at Twin Buttes ND and actually jammed with Joe Diffey.

Myron worked several years for Park Construction as a heavy equipment operator and was proud to call himself a “shade tree mechanic”. 

Myron married his sweetheart Sharon Meyers on October 16, 1980. 

Myron never went anywhere without his guitar, but his true love was his family.  He loved them with his whole heart, he treasured every moment spent with them.  His children, grandchildren and great grandchildren were his pride and joy. 

Myron’s loving family include his wife Sharon; sons Pedro Meyers (aka Larry Spotted Horse) and his wife Yolanda of Fort Totten and Mitchell Spotted Horse and his wife Renae of Devils Lake; grandchildren Jonathan, Tanner, Jayzlee, Kaycee, Bethany, Sean, Lillian, Shelby and Riley; great grandson Liam Meyers; step grandchildren Lyndon, Kissandra, Cyris, Wakinyanho, Kissara and Whalen; dear sister Emerald and Matt Robertson also of Fort Totten; many nieces and nephews including Willow (Shawn) Harjochee, Michelle Spotted Horse, Joseph (Rose) cRoulette, Marcus Robertson and Philip Spotted Horse IV.

He was preceded in death by his parents Philip and Vivian, son Jonathan Spotted Horse, brothers Emrick “Thomas” and Philip “Emery” Spotted Horse, sister Patricia Dunn and aunties and uncles. 

As we say goodbye to dear Myron, we will always remember and greatly miss his infamous greeting to everyone who crossed paths in Myron’s journey through life-“Top of the morning to you!”.

Pallbearer will be Jonathan Meyers, Tanner Meyers, Sean Spotted Horse, Marcus Robertson, Joseph Roulette, Philip Spotted Horse IV, JR “Lyndon” GreyBear and Shawn Harjochee.  Honorary Bearers will be Eugene White Jr., Kenneth McKay, Bentley GreyBear, Carlos Wadsworth, Richard Meyers, Shawn Dauphinais, Bud Shaw, Cornelle GoodThunder and Roger Ironshield.  Music will be provided by the Brownshield Drum Group.
