Nicholas G. Streifel`

Nicholas “Nick” G. Streifel, 58 of Oberon ND passed away on Thursday, November 25, 2021, in Devils Lake in the loving care of his family.

Funeral Services for Nick will be held on Saturday, December 4, 2021, at 11:00 a.m. at the Gilbertson Funeral Home, Devils Lake with Reverend Mr. Ken Severinson, Deacon officiating. Burial will be in St. James Catholic Cemetery, rural Minnewaukan ND. Gathering of family and friends will be on Friday, December 3^rd from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Nicholas George Streifel was born on June 25, 1963, at Maddock ND the son of George and Virginia (Hager) Streifel. He grew up in the Minnewaukan/Oberon area. He attended school at Oberon and Minnewaukan, graduating from Minnewaukan High School with the class of 1981. He attended Lake Region Junior College in Devils Lake.

Nick began employment with Summer’s Manufacturing in 1981 as a welder, and continued with them until 2004, when he was then a salesman for the company. In 2004, Nick began farming with his brother Bill at Oberon until his passing. Nick worked at Ebach Construction also. Nick had many talents, but his ability as a metal fabricator was unbelievable. Everyone knew if you could not buy the part, Nick could just make you one.

Nick loved to fish, no matter the season, he loved to fish and was looking forward to another ice fishing season. He was the proud owner of a Harley-Davidson and was a member of the Norseman Cycle Club at one time. When Nick was not on the lake, or on his Harley he was traveling, enjoying the sites of the upper Midwest and West Coast. He enjoyed time at the Casino, sharing fishing tales with friends.

Nick’s family meant the world to him, and he loved them with all his heart and felt blessed to have their caring hearts and hands as he battled cancer these past few months.

Those family members that survive Nick are his mother Virginia Streifel, Devils Lake; brothers Dennis Streifel and Bill (Rose) Streifel all of Oberon; nieces and nephew Katie (Brock) Streifel and Justin (Kate) Streifel and Jennifer (Tyler) Weigelt and Lindsey (Matt) VanThuyne; great nephews Trey Weigelt and George Streifel; special friend Cindy Stinson and special buddy Carter Houle; aunts and uncles Paul Streifel, Minnewaukan, Carolyn (Byron) Butters, Andover MN, Mavis (Dale) Halvorson, Williamston MI, John (Janice) Hager, New Rockford ND, Colette Tufte, Devils Lake and many cousins. 

He was preceded in death by his dad, George and grandparents Nicholas and Catherine Streifel, Michael, and Rose Hager.
