Olive E. Johnson

Olive E. (Kenner) Johnson, 96 of Devils Lake, ND passed away early Sunday morning, November 25, 2018 at Eventide Heartland Care Center in Devils Lake. Olive’s family is so thankful and appreciative to the Heartland Care Assisted Living and Heartland Care Center staff for the care and kindness given to their mother and grandmother.

Funeral Services for Olive will be held on Friday, November 30, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. at the Eventide Heartland Care Center Chapel with Reverend Robert Buechler officiating. Burial will be in the Devils Lake Cemetery.  Visitation will be held on Friday at the Chapel beginning at 10:00 a.m. until time of service. 

Olive Elaine was born December 19, 1921, in Devils Lake, to Chris and Maddie (Weed) Kenner. She was raised and attended school in Devils Lake.  Olive met her future husband, Odin Johnson at a dance and the two were married in 1940.

Olive worked for many years at Mercy Hospital in the Nursery, caring for the newborn babies. She enjoyed her work and the responsibility of assisting new mothers in their first moments with their newborn babies.

Her kindness, faith in Christ, lovely smile and love for her family were instrumental in Olive living a full and productive life. Olive will be sadly missed by her family, extended family and many dear friends.

Olive is survived by her children Judith (Ronald) Pinkney and Bruce (Barbara) Johnson, both of Minnesota; grandchildren Paul, Kyle, Sara, Beth, Jodie and Steven; numerous great grandchildren and daughter-in-law Dana Johnson.

She was preceded in death by her husband Odin; son Douglas; parents Chris and Maddie Kenner; and brother Arthur D. Kenner.
