Phyllis Papachek

Phyllis Papachek, 96 of Devils Lake formerly of Warwick, ND passed away on Tuesday, November 14, 2017 at the Good Samaritan Center, Devils Lake.  Phyllis was born on August 5, 1921 in rural Warwick ND to Jacob and Frances (Lestina) Papchek. Phyllis attended public school in the Free People’s District. She was a lifelong resident of the Warwick Community and farmed north of Warwick with her brother Benjamin Papchek until his death in 1987 at which time she farmed the land by herself.  In 2007, she sold the farm and moved to Devils Lake and lived in an assisted living facility which she enjoyed very much. A faithful servant, she was an active member in the churches she attended including St. James Catholic Church, Warwick, Christ the King, Tokio, St. Michael’s Catholic Church, St. Michael and St. Joseph Catholic Church, Devils Lake. Phyllis is survived by her six nieces, Darlene (Joe) Marquart, Devils Lake, Kay (Dayton) McKelvey, Devils Lake, Aldene (Lawton) Miller, California, Lynann (Irvin) Rustad, West Fargo, ND, Kerry (Joe) Bernier, New Rockford, ND and LaVonne (Richard) Rustad, Fargo, ND; six nephews Donald Papachek, Minnesota, Lyman (Sondra) Daniel, Jerry Daniel, Leonard Daniel and Cleo Daniel all of Texas and Darrel (Deb) Carlson, Warwick, ND. She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters Elizabeth Daniel, Agnes Clift and Irene Carlson; brothers George, Thomas, Stanley, Edward, Benjamin and Raymond Papachek; nieces Phyllis Daniel, Joyce Daniel and Lorene Waldo; nephews Myron, Ronald, Larry and Keith Papchek, Calvin and Milton Clift, Melvin and Lewis Daniel. Pallbearers for Phyllis will be Darlene Marquart, Kay McKelvey, Lynann Rustad, LaVonne Rustad, Kerry Bernier, Bonnie Papachek, Stella Papachek and Pat Papachek. Reading the Scriptures will be Paul Wilhelmi and Gift Bearers will be Jen Wilhelmi, Lori Werre and Melody Wilhelmi.  Altar Servers are Sawyer and Wyatt Wilhelmi and Lynne Webster and JoDee Lagein will provide the music for the Mass. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, November 20, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Michael’s Catholic Church, St. Michael, ND with Father Charles Leute OP and Father Paul Schuster concelebrating the Mass. Burial will be in the Warwick Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Sunday, November 19th at the Gilbertson Funeral Home, Devils Lake from 2:00 p.m. until 4:30 p.m. with a time of Prayer and Remembrance at 4:30 p.m.  Visitation on Monday will be at the church one hour prior to the funeral Mass.
