Presley Faron Howard, “Zuya Cistana Wicasta” (Little Warrior) passed away on Wednesday, July 19, 2023, at CHI, St. Alexius Health, Devils Lake Hospital. He was 43 years old.
The Wake for Faron will be on Tuesday, July 25, 2023, at the Fort Totten Recreation Center beginning at 5:00 p.m. with a Prayer Service at 7:00 p.m. The procession to Fort Totten will leave on Tuesday at 4:00 p.m. from City Plaza, Devils Lake. Kris White will assist the family with their traditional ways.
Funeral Services will be on Wednesday, July 26, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. at the Recreation Center with Reverend Paul Schuster officiating. Burial will be in St. Jerome’s Cemetery, rural Crow Hill.
Presley Faron Howard, son of Deborah Little and Stanley Howard was born on January 5, 1980, in Devils Lake, ND. He grew up in Fort Totten and attended Four Winds School. He graduated from Minot Job Corp in November of 1999 as a certified welder. While at Job Corp he was well known on the basketball court as “Shaq.”
Presley continued his education at Little Hoop Community College and graduated with a degree in accounting in 2011. He worked in the accounting department at Spirit Lake Casino and later with the Spirit Lake Tribal Loan Program. Due to a dipliating injury, he was unable to continue to work.
Presley loved spending time with his family, especially on all the holidays, cookouts at Darrick Ami’s house, and visiting with friends. He was a teaser, liked joking around and having good times. He loved the game of basketball, either playing it with friends or watching the game being played. He treasured his many childhood friends and all the good times they had together.
Presley was a friend to so many, and such a blessing to his family. He was loving, kind and good humored. Always making people smile, always looking for the positive side of every situation. He will be so very missed by his precious family and dear friends.
Presley’s loving family include his mother, Deborah Little, sons Nathen Howard and Braedon Howard; sisters Heather Posey and Rani Howard; brothers Cameron Howard and William Howard; granddaughter Mylah Ami; nieces and nephews Demrae Ami, Talissa Ami, Shandyn Ami, Scarlett Howard, TruVal Ami, Lastat Howard, Demi Howard, Remi Howard, Destiny Howard, Amilian Howard and Kerris Howard; godfather Roger Yankton Sr.; godmother Donna Walking Eagle; aunty Mrs. Onna Littleghost.
He was welcomed to the Spirit World by his Creator and his Dad, Stanley Howard and his grandmothers, Marjorie Little Davis and Eunice Red Bird and many other dear relatives.
Pallbearers for Faron will be Calvin Feather, Robert Leftbear, Dusty Black, Darrick Ami, Brandon Posey, Loren Greybear Jr., Lydell Jones, and Elton Nestell.
