Raymond Bruce Windy Boy was born on March 28, 1973 at Devils Lake, the son of Bernadette Feather and Joseph Alberts Sr. At a young age, he went to live with his uncle Greg Feather. He grew up on the Spirit Lake Nation, attending school at Four Winds, Flandreau, South Dakota and the Wahpeton Indian School. He returned to the Fort Totten area and worked at the Fort Totten Youth Center.
Joe was united in marriage to Bobbi Jo Wise Spirit and they were the proud parents of 5 children Joelle, JoLynn, JoVon, JoNah and JoEtta. He also was a proud Dad to Raylynn, Dartaneal and Everly in later years. After his marriage to Bobbi Jo, they established their home in Standing Rock. Joe began working in the maintenance/housekeeping industry at United Tribes, Prairie Knights Casino and Grand River Casino in South Dakota and as a handy man for W. Wilson in Bismarck.
If Joe wasn’t out riding bike, he was fixing bikes. He was very artistic at drawing and assembling and painting model cars. He enjoyed playing video games, and the sport of basketball. He loved his kids and treasured spending time with them. He was a free spirit and never liked to stay in one place too long, so he traveled around, always making frequent stops on the Spirit Lake Nation and Bismarck to visit family and friends, then off on another adventure.
Joe will be greatly missed by all those who knew and loved him. May this final journey bring peace and joy as you travel your spiritual journey home.
Joe is survived by his loving children; Joelle Wise Spirit, JoLynn Windy Boy, JoVon Windy Boy, JoNah Windy Boy, JoEtta Windy Boy, Raylynn Windy Boy, Darlaneal Windy Boy and Everly Windy Boy; sisters Clarice Fox Windy Boy, Elrae Mazakahomni, Jana McDonald, Joann McDonald and Justine McDonald; brothers Michael McDonald and Tony GoodBird; very special uncle Greg Feather and many cousins.
