Rick C. Lysne

Ricky “Rick” C. Lysne, 60 of Devils Lake, ND passed away on Monday, December 11, 2017 at Altru Hospital, Grand Forks, ND with loving family at his side.  Rick is in the care of the Gilbertson Funeral Home, Devils Lake. Ricky Curtis, son of Curtis and Janet (Fox) Lysne was born on July 27, 1957 at Cando, ND. He grew up in Starkweather, ND and attended school in Starkweather and graduated from Maddock High School with the class of 1975.  After graduation he was employed with the State Mill and Elevator in Grand Forks.  Rick moved to Devils Lake where he made his home through the years. He went to work for Pepsi and worked there for a number of years. Rick spent the remainder of his years driving truck.  He worked as a truck driver for various companies and individuals including Jensen Trucking, Ritterman Trucking, S&S Transport and most recently Hall Trucking.  For many years, Rick owned and operated his own trucking company.  If Rick wasn’t on the open road, he was in the open air. He spent every minute he could camping at Six Mile Bay, surrounding himself with those he loved so very much, his family and dear friends.  Such wonderful times around the late night, early morning bonfires.  Rick enjoyed deer hunting with his family, dirt racing, NASCAR, watching the Vikings football games and riding his Harley with his wife and friends.  Rick was a member of the Lake Region Snowmobile Club, former member of the Harvey Eagles and a volunteer Fireman. For the past 26 years, Rick has shared his life and his love with Kim Kraft and they were united in marriage on July 24, 2015. The most important things in Rick’s life were his wife, children and his grandchildren.   Rick is survived by his wife, Kim; his Dad, Curtis Lysne, Harvey, ND; his kids Dustin Lysne, Chandler, AZ, Justin (Jani Adams) Kraft, Devils Lake, Catlan (Danae) Lysne, Maddock, ND, Nathan Miller, Devils Lake and Carley (Justin McCarthy) Lysne, also of Devils Lake; nine grandchildren Kyson, Emma, Avery; Easton, Carter, Mikan, Joelcee; Landan; Emmalynn; sisters and brother Carla (Ron) Toso, Mandan, ND, Daren (Linda) Lysne, Rugby, ND and Karalee (Bob) Adam, Lincoln, ND; mother-in-law Beverly Kraft; sister-in-law Charlotte Kraft; brother-in-law Kevin "Rover" (Trish) Kraft; aunt Arlys Haus, Bismarck; uncle Gary (Beth) Fox, Minnesota and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his mother Janet; father-in-law Duane Kraft; aunts and uncles Bonnie and Virgil Tuebner, Carol and Jim Ritterman and his grandparents. Funeral Services for Rick will be held on Saturday, December 16, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Olaf Lutheran Church, Devils Lake with Reverend Jim Paulson officiating. Burial will be in the Devils Lake Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the Gilbertson Funeral Home, Devils Lake on Friday, December 15th from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. with a time of remembrance and sharing at 6:00 p.m.  Visitation on Saturday will be at the church one hour prior to the funeral service. Casket Bearers for Rick will be Steven Gratton, Brandon Hall, Ryan Scott, Bob Ritterman, Pete Ritterman, Brian “BJ” Seng, Brad Seng and Keith Papenfuss.
