Rita Irene Malo was born July 16, 1927 in Rolette ND to Hector and Eugenie (Mongeon) Malo and passed away September 15, 2020 in Jamestown ND. 

Rita attended Notre Dame Academy in Willow City ND and graduated from high school in Tacoma, Washington. 

Rita was united in marriage to the love of her life, Theodore “Ted” Boe on July 16, 1949 in Rolla ND. They established their home there, where they lived worked and raised their family.  Rita had a strong desire most of her life to be a nurse.  After she raised her family, she graduated from nursing school at 47 years of age.  Rita worked as a nurse at the Sisters of Mary Presentation Medical Center and later Prairieland Home Health until her retirement. 

Rita cherished her grandchildren and loved telling them stories of her life.  She cared for her children and grandchildren with much love and a gentle heart.  Rita was driven by strong family values and a deep faith.  Rita’s love, devotion and dedication radiated from her heart. 

Rita is survived by her sons Teddy (Carolyn) Boe of Orange Beach AL, Danny (Kathy) Boe of Grand Junction CO; daughters Sonia (Mike) Guderjahn of St. John ND, Cheryl (Dale) Lende of Jamestown ND and Shelly (Cary) Eriksson of Devils Lake ND; 14 grandchildren Robbie (Stacy) Boe, Michelle Pleiness, Derick Boe, Dara Boe, Jason (Jennifer) Guderjahn, Amber (Mikel) Kelly, Alaina DeMers, Jeremy (Marissa) Lende, Jenny (Brandon) Clouse, Alissa (Ryan) Boline, Adam (Terra) Eriksson, Britta (Mike) Simengaard, Beau (Kadie) Eriksson, Madison (fiancé Mitchell) Eriksson; 19 great grandchildren Nathan and Connor Boe, Kayla Pleiness, Austin and Ashlyn Guderjahn, Thomas Guderjahn, Loudyn Kelly, Kenley and Miles DeMers, Benjamin and Olivia Lende, Savannah and Teddy Clouse, Calin, Braxton and Koen Boline, Ryker Eriksson, Lucy Simengaard, Blair Eriksson; sister-in-law Mary Ann Malo, Bismarck ND; brother-in-law JW Hatfield, Seattle WA and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband Ted on March 25, 2005, brothers Raymond, Wilfred, Paul, Eugene, and Maurice Malo and sisters Lillian McMaster, Alma Casavant and Jeanine Zeffero  “C’est La Vie!”

Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, September 22, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Devils Lake with the Very Reverend C.F. Wilhelm celebrating the Mass assisted by Deacon Ken Votava of Ave Maria Care Center.  Visitation will be at St. Joseph Catholic Church on Monday, September 21st from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. with a Rosary and Scripture Service at 7:00 p.m. led by Reverend Mr. Ken Severinson, Deacon.

Graveside Services will be held on Wednesday, September 23rd at 1:00 p.m. at St. Michael’s Catholic Cemetery, rural Rolla, ND.
