Sandra Lynn, twin sister of Cindy and daughter of Harold and Muriel (Hoffmeyer) Jack was born on June 8, 1953, in Devils Lake, ND. Sandy was reared and educated in the Devils Lake area. She attended first grade at a country school, then Prairie View Elementary School and graduated from Devils Lake Central High School with the class of 1971. While going to high school, Sandy worked with her dad who drove a mail truck, she delivered the Grand Forks Herald on a paper route, and worked as a check out clerk at Leever’s County Market.
After high school, Sandy had a 33-year career as a bank teller. She started at 1st National Bank, then First Community Credit Union, then back to Bremer Bank. She was that smiling face, that helping hand, that reliable, hard-working person behind the counter no matter where she worked. You could depend on Sandy to serve the customers she encountered each day.
Sandy married Douglas Ginther on April 30, 1977, at the First United Methodist Church in Devils Lake. They made their home on the farm by Sweetwater Lake. Sandy worked side by side with her husband in the farming business. She also would take time from work to accompany the custom combining crew. Many times, with the two girls in tow. She always made sure there was a hot meal for the crew and was famous for her “Sandy Burgers.”
Sandy enjoyed coin collecting, doing beadwork, and sewing (she could fix anything with her sewing machine). She did both women’s and mixed league bowling for many years. She qualified for several state tournaments in her younger days of bowling. Sandy and Doug went on many adventures with friends to the National Finals Rodeos in Las Vegas. Sandy was a member of the Rebekah’s Lodge and joined St. Joseph Catholic Church in 2007.
In 2005, Sandy suffered a major health issue that changed her busy, active life forever, but it never dampened her spirit. She loved her family with all her heart. She treasured every moment with them.
Sandy is survived by her loving family. Her husband Doug; daughters Livie and her husband Brian Kraft of St. Michael and Leslie and her husband Roger Wentz of Devils Lake; grandchildren Anna and Isaac Kraft, Casandra and Preston Wentz; brother Rick Jack and his wife Robin, West Fargo, ND; sister Cindy and her husband Kent Quam, Devils Lake; sisters-in-law Rosella Aronson, Debbie (Mike) Ludwig and Mary Ann Ginther.
She was reunited with her parents, in-laws Rich and Billie Ginther, and brother-in-law Rick Ginther.
