Sandra M. (Lamrose) Miller, 71 of Devils Lake, ND passed away in her home in the loving care of her family and Altru Hospice on Friday, February 28, 2020.
Sandra Mae was born on February 1, 1949 at Fort Totten, ND the daughter of Cap “Chris” Lamrose and Genevieve Jetty. She grew up in St. Michael and attended the Stephen Boarding School in South Dakota. She later with determination and hard work obtained her GED.
Sandra was at one time married to Byron Carlson and they were the proud parents of Kim and Craig Dean. As a single Mom, she and Kim moved to Santa Barbara and she lived and worked there for several years. She later married George Miller and they joyfully adopted Lynissa and welcomed George Jr. to the family.
One of Sandra’s first jobs was working at “The Barrel” in Devils Lake. She also was employed with Sioux Manufacturing Corp and for Spirit Lake Tribe in the Housing Department and also Employment and Training. Doing the road construction in the Lake Region, Sandra worked as a flagger.
Sandra’s family was the most important part of her life. She loved them with all her heart. In her younger years, you never knew where Sandra might be off to on her motorcycle. She had that love for the open road her whole life. When she had to be indoors, she was busy putting together jigsaw puzzles or playing slot machine games on her phone. But Sandra always had time to visit with friends and family over a good cup of coffee.
Sandra felt so very blessed to have the support, love and caring arms of her family as she fought her health battles.
Sandra’s loving family include her children Kim (Meyer) DuPreez, Lynissa (James) Bull and George (Cindy) Miller Jr.; grandchildren Terry, Kyle and Cody Dunn, Vernon SpottedBird Jr., Thomas SpottedBird, Durwin, Elise Mae and Jamie Bull, George Lane Miller III and Harleylinn Rose Beil Miller; sisters Twila Lamrose, Julie Creed, Elaine Robinson, Tammie (Brent) Putnam and Gail Nash; many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Those who welcomed her to her heavenly home are mother Genevieve Jetty, father Chris Lamrose, son Craig Dean Carlson, sisters Francine Lamrose, Lillian Lamrose, brother Tom Nash, grandparents Ambrose and Frances Jetty, aunts Betty Morin, Beatrice Abrahamson, Marie Baker, Vivian (Dave) Jetty and Doris Morin and other dear family members.
Pallbearers for Sandra will be Terry Dunn, Cody Dunn, Vernon SpottedBird Jr., Thomas SpottedBird, Dustin Foote, Lynn McKay, Rainin McKay, Julian McKay, Eddie Green and Evan Hill. Honorary Bearers will be all of Sandra’s close family, friends and relatives.
Visitation will be held on Friday, March 6, 2020 from 10:30 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at St. Michael’s Catholic Church. The procession to St. Michael will leave at 9:30 a.m. on Friday from City Plaza.
