Sandra Elaine Wass, was born in Devils Lake ND on August 18, 1948, the daughter of Chester V. and Edith J. (Erickstad) Wass. Sandra was a baptized and confirmed member of Bergen Lutheran Church, rural Starkweather. She was reared and educated in Starkweather, graduating from Starkweather High School with the class of 1966. She continued her education at Trinity School of Nursing and graduated as a Registered Nurse in 1969.

Sandra’s career as a registered nurse spanned 53 years, 5 months, and 3 days. She worked in several medical facilities in the Minot area, including Trinity Hospital, St. Joseph Hospital, various Emergency Rooms and for the past 7 years, until retiring, she was the office nurse for Dr. Blendi Cumani. Her passion was nursing, and she excelled at every one of her jobs, but she truly loved one on one contact with the patients that passed through Dr. Cumani’s office each day.

Sandra’s caring and generous heart did not stop with her duties as a nurse. She loved and cherished her sister, brother, nieces, nephews, and their families with her whole heart. Sandra was a “shopper,” but every shopping trip included gifts and gadgets for family and friends. Her generosity did not stop with family. Her donations of time, talent, monetary gifts to others in need were always of an anonymous nature.

Our dear Sandra is gone from our sight, but never forgotten, forever missed, and forever loved.

Sandra’s loving family include her sister JoAnne Hughes of Grand Forks ND, brother Randall Wass of Carrington ND, nephews and nieces Jeremy Hughes , Janette (Nathan) Wald, Jerilyn (Alex) Galt, Krysta(Brandon) Gurth, great nephews and great nieces Jayla Wald, Jaxon Wald, Weston Galt, Gabriella Gurth, Lilianna Gurth, Caiden Gurth, and other dear relatives.
