Sheila L. Tonn

Sheila L. Tonn, 62 of Devils Lake formerly of Manitoba, Canada passed away on Wednesday, January 15, 2025 at CHI, St. Alexius Health, Devils Lake Hospital. 

There will be a gathering of family and friends on Monday, January 20, 2025 at the Gilbertson Funeral Home, Devils Lake from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. We welcome you to share stories and memories of Sheila as we celebrate her beautiful and precious life. 

Sheila, daughter of Peter and Margaret (Payment) Piorier was born on December 8, 1962 in Red Lake, Ontario, Canada. She grew up in Winnipeg, Manitoba and graduated from high school in 1980. She continued her education receiving a degree in nursing and practiced as an RN for several years. 

In 1993, Sheila came to the United States and settled in Cando, ND and worked at the Towner County Living Center. While living in Cando, Sheila met her beloved Kevin and they were united in marriage on June 10, 1994. Sheila and Kevin moved to Devils Lake in 1998 where they lived and worked through the years. Sheila worked a variety of jobs, but mainly in health care. Most recently she worked for REM until increasing health issues forced her to retire in 2022. She loved the consumers and the wonderful people she worked with each day. 

In her spare time, Sheila loved to crochet and had her favorite TV shows she enjoyed watching.

We will all miss that beautiful smile, those sparkling eyes and her loving and caring ways. Rest in peace sweet Sheila. 

Sheila's loving family include her husband Kevin; sisters Roxanne (Mike) Wright and Darlene Piorier; brothers Rene Poirier and Joe (CIndy) Piorier all of Manitoba; sister-in-law Dawn (Steve) Myers; brother-in-law Jeff Tonn all of Devils Lake; many dear nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, brother James and Tim Piorier and in-laws James and LaWanda Tonn.
