Susan (Ruhl) Langstaff

Susan Lee Ruhl-Langstaff

Susan Lee Ruhl was born on November 27, 1953 in Minnesota, the daughter of Wayne and Irene “Pat” (Beswick) Ruhl. She lived most of her life in Devils Lake, ND and attended school there, graduating from Devils Lake High School in 1972.

Susan was always a hard-working, dedicated employee, serving others with a smile. In 1970, Susan worked in the summer months as a car hop at the local A&W Drive-In.  She also worked at the lunch counter and in the stock room at the Woolworth’s Store.  From 1976 to 1978, Susan was employed as a Nursing Assistant at Lake Region Lutheran Home and from 1979 to 2002 she worked at the Great American Inn as a Desk Clerk.  In 2002, Susan was a Restorative Tech at the Crisis Restorative Unit until 2011 when she returned to college to continue her education.

Susan was united in marriage to Edward Langstaff in 2009 at the Dakotah Oyate Lutheran Church and they began their life together raising Elyse, who was then 3 years old.

Susan had a very big heart and cared about everyone. She will be missed by her family and many other people she has touched.     Susan had many struggles in the last two years of her life after suffering serious injuries from an automobile accident in August of 2016 and had superseded doctor’s expectations.  She fought the battle with great determination and faith and always with the love and support of her family.

Susan is survived by her husband Edward Langstaff of Tokio; her parents, Pat and Wayne Ruhl, Breckenridge, MN, sister Laurie of Minot, ND, brother Gary and his wife Susan of Fairmount, ND; several nieces and nephews including Danielle and James (Cari), Jeremy (Kirstin) and great nieces and great nephew Cassie, Jordan, Jasmine and Trent; step children Melvin (Laura) Langstaff Sr., Eleanor (Dale) Perkins, George (Tammi) Langstaff, Steven Langstaff, Josh (Jackie) Langstaff and Elyse Langstaff and many step grandchildren and step great grandchildren.
