Suzanne Louise Miller Loken, of Devils Lake, North Dakota, passed away at her home on Tuesday, September 1, 2020 from Leukemia.
Suzanne was born to parents Charles and Mabel (Robertson) Miller on May 11, 1944 in Devils Lake. She graduated from Cando High School in 1962. She received her LPN Degree from Devils Lake Junior College in 1970. She continued with her education, completing her B.S. for nursing from the University of Mary, Bismarck, North Dakota.
Suzanne married Ardell Loken, August 17, 1963 in Crookston, MN at the Methodist Church. To this union came 3 children, Scott Charles, Marnie Sue, and Carter Blaine.
Suzanne worked at Mercy Hospital, Devils Lake for 32 years. Suzanne was on the board for the Good Samaritan Home and RN consultant for Odd Fellows Basic Care. Suzanne was a member of the Methodist Church.
Suzanne enjoyed many hobbies from sewing, quilting, stain glass, hardanger, ceramics. She was an avid baker and excellent cook. She enjoyed reading, music, theater and playing cards with friends.
Suzanne had a kind and compassionate spirit. She believed a day without laughter was a day wasted. She loved puns and most did not think they were punny!!
She leaves behind her loving husband Ardell of 57 years; 3 children and 6 grandchildren-Scott (Susan) Loken and grandchildren Gabriel, Jorunn, Magnus and Ursula, all of Missoula, MT, Marnie (Jon) Larsen of Grand Forks ND and grandchildren Ellen, Columbus, OH and Riley, Grand Forks, Carter Loken of Devils Lake; beloved extended family brother Dr. Robert (Lois) Miller, sister-in-law June (Dennis) Farbo, sister Sharon Miller, brother Henri (Darlene) Miller and sister Patricia Miller; in-laws Janice (Dale) Riggin, Vera (Edward) Lee, Myron Loken, Hank (Bonnie) Loken, Arlene Loken and Rita (Dean) Sorenson, lifelong friends Mabel Rabideaux, Marcus and Mary Schumacher and many wonderful nieces, nephews and dear friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents Charles and Mabel Miller, in-laws Albert and Wilma Loken, brother Dr. Douglas Miller, sister-in-law Gennie Loken, brothers-in-law Don Shiel and Errol Loken, nephews Kent Riggin, Dean Riggin and niece Kim Riggin.
Funeral Services for Suzanne will be held at the Gilbertson Funeral Home, Devils Lake with Myron Loken officiating with burial in the Devils Lake Cemetery. Due to COVID-19, services will be for immediate family only (masks required) but the family thanks you so very much for your many acts of kindness and prayerful support these past months.
