Theodore “Ted” Hawn, 87 of Devils Lake, ND passed away on Holy Saturday, April 15, 2017 at Eventide Heartland Care Center, Devils Lake with loving family at his side and in the care of Altru Hospice. Mass of Christian Burial will be on Friday, April 22nd at 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Devils Lake with Father Alex King celebrating the Mass. Burial will be in the Devils Lake Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 20, 2017 at Gilbertson Funeral Home, Devils Lake from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. with a Rosary and Scripture Service at 7:00 p.m. led by Reverend Mr. Ken Severinson, Deacon. Visitation on Friday will be at the church one hour prior to the funeral Mass. Theodore Hawn was born June 21, 1929 to Earl and Ethel (Arian) Hawn at Devils Lake, ND. He went to the Washington School until the family moved to Cando, ND. He then attended school there. In his adult years, he worked for Cando area farmers. In 1968 he moved to Devils Lake where he has since lived. He worked many years for Lake Asphalt and later for Nodak Construction. He retired in 1990 due to a job related injury. On August 24, 1968 he married Phyllis Beck at Cando. He is survived by two daughters, Debbie Beck (Rick Anderson) from Lakota and Jean (Dan) Hettwer from Devils Lake; two sons Joey (Danielle) Hawn from Devils Lake and Jeff (Susan) Hawn from Leeds: Grandchildren Scott (Dawnyell) Senger, Mapleton, ND, Christy Senger (Joe Burnett) Lakota, Troy Hettwer Dustin Hettwer, Bailey Hawn and Megan Hawn all of Devils Lake; Great grandchildren Zachery Senger, Kierstyn Senger, and Sierra Streifel; Great-Great grandchildren Wyatt Senger and Aydrien Crist; and one sister, Joyce Carlson from Hibbing, MN. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Phyllis on October 14. 2012; brothers Donald and Robert; sisters Jean Hackmann and Vera Hendrickson; granddaughter Emily Ann Hettwer. Pallbearers will be: Joey Hawn, Jeff Hawn, Scott Senger, Troy Hettwer, Dustin Hettwer, and Dan Hettwer. Honorary Bearers are all of Ted’s grandchildren and great grandchildren.
