Thomas A. Culmer April 4, 1944 – February 1, 2025

Thomas A. Culmer, 80, of Devils Lake, ND, passed away peacefully, leaving behind a lifetime of love, laughter, and cherished memories. Born on April 4, 1944, in Parsons, Kansas, Tom was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend who touched the lives of many with his warmth, humor, and unwavering dedication to family and community.

Tom graduated from St. James High School in Grand Forks, North Dakota, in 1962 before continuing his education at St. Mary’s of the Plains in Dodge City, Kansas, earning his degree in 1967. His passion for numbers and business led him to pursue a Master of Accountancy from the University of North Dakota in 1970. Shortly after, he moved to Devils Lake, where he established and successfully ran an accounting firm, serving his community with integrity and expertise until his passing. Tom was a member of St. Joseph Parish, the Purgatorial Society, and the North Dakota Certified Public Accountant Society.

On December 28, 1966, Tom married the love of his life, Linda Skalsky, in Dalhart, Texas. Their marriage was filled with love, laughter, and an unbreakable bond that endured through the years. He was known for his sharp mind, deep appreciation for cars and technology, and an unshakable devotion to UND Hockey. With a joke always at the ready, Tom’s humor and lighthearted spirit brightened the lives of those around him.

Tom was preceded in death by his parents, A.E. Culmer and Evangeline Culmer. He is survived by his beautiful bride, Linda, who remained his greatest love and partner in life for over 58 years. Also surviving are his children: Michael (Brian Chamides) Culmer, Michelle (Phil) Clouse, and Meridith (Brad) Larson. He was a proud grandfather to Joshua (Brandi) Clouse, Brandon Clouse, Jacob Clouse, Maggi (Chris) Moore, Tom Clouse, and Vangie Larson. His legacy lives on in his cherished great-grandchildren: Aria and Linkin Clouse and Ferdy and Ozzie Moore.

Tom is also survived by his sister, Nancy (Greg) Bohlman, and his lifelong friend, Merritt Larson, who remained a constant presence throughout the years.

Tom’s kindness, wisdom, and humor will be dearly missed but forever treasured in the hearts of those who knew him. His family takes comfort in the countless memories he left behind and the joy he brought into their lives.
