In 1947 his parents moved the family to California. His nickname in school was “Topeka” and his favorite expression was “Ford’s the Best”. He graduated from Herlong High School in Herlong, California in 1956. He was a great manager, always interactive and interested in his staff and what he could do to help them to be a good employee.  Tom always liked to stay busy, so he chose to work part time at the Dakota Boys Ranch and Bjornson’s Gas Station.

In 1990 Tom met the love of his life Vicky. They wed on June 30th, 1990 in a back yard wedding. They always felt that the Good Lord was smiling down on them when they had finally found their soulmates.

Tom’s favorite hobbies included woodworking, attending to his yard, traveling throughout the U.S. with his wife, Vicky, many hours fishing with his grandchildren, baking his famous apple cobbler, and you could always find him in his backyard soaking up the sun.

Tom’s loving family were the sustaining forces in his life that brought him so much joy, comfort, and peace. He was a devoted husband, loving father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He loved being a grandpa and spending time his grandchildren, they were #1 in his book.
