Tyson made his journey to the Spirit World Sunday, September 25, 2022 at CHI, St. Alexius Health, Devils Lake Hospital. He was welcomed home with open arms by his Dad and big brother Troy and the rest of the family members. He was 34 years old.
Tyson was born on August 29, 1988 in Grand Forks, ND to parents Marilyn Thompson and Kenneth Lynn Olson Sr.
Tyson attended school at Four Winds, Poplar Middle School, Poplar High School and graduated with the class of 2008 in Great Falls, MT.
On November 28, 2006 he became the proud daddy to his only child Keli Marie Olson. He loved her unconditionally and treasured every moment he got to spend with her. When he wasn’t spending time with Keli, he was hanging out with friends or shooting hoops.
Tyson had a crazy sense of humor. Always joking around with everyone he knew. He knew how to brighten your day and put a smile on your face or as he would say: “I will turn that frown upside down!” He was a big kind-hearted guy. Tyson loved sports especially basketball in his younger years. Tyson’s favorite team was the Texas Longhorns. He would play basketball everyday with friends. Tyson liked watching different sporting events on TV, but most of all he liked to attend sporting events when any of his nieces or nephews played.
Tyson will be missed by many family and friends.
Tyson is survived by his loving family. His sisters and brothers Angel Thompson (Keith Longie), Macy Laundreaux (Gaylen Robertson), Russell Littleghost, Rory Littleghost (Kayla), Roletta Laundreaux, Lynda Olson, Jenny Olson, Marlin Olson, Corvette Olson and Kenny Olson Jr. and baby sister Shoni Royce; baby girl Keli Marie Olson; mother Marilyn Thompson; aunts Sharon Cavanaugh, Cindy Thompson, Donna Youngman of Poplar MT, Paula Thompson, Zeda McKay, Julia Young, Jonelle and Everett “Todd” White; uncles Calvin Thompson (Geneva), Robert Olson Sr., Keith Olson Sr., Curtis “Allen” Menz Sr., Lester Menz Sr., Ervin Olson Sr.; grandmas Yvette Todd and Margaret Hapa and numerous nieces and nephews; special nephew he took as his son Kyler Rivers Longie and he was god father to LaNeah Thompson; adopted family include Momma Ida Cantrell and the late Arnie GoodBird; brothers and sisters George, Darryl, Leslie, Franklin, Beverly, Sophie and Tiffany; special friend Roger Cavanaugh.
He was preceded in death by his father Kenneth Olson Sr., brother Leon Troy Olson, maternal grandparents Ambrose and Mary Louise Thompson, paternal grandparents Raquel Menz, Louis Youngman; niece Kenzley Olson.
The Wake and Prayer Service for Tyson will be on Wednesday, October 5, 2022 beginning at 5:00 p.m. at the St. Michael’s Recreation Center with a Prayer Service at 7:00 p.m. The procession to St. Michael will leave on Wednesday at 4:00 p.m. from the City Plaza in Devils Lake. The Funeral Service will be on Thursday, October 6th at 10:00 a.m. at the Recreation Center.
Pallbearers will be George Anderson, Jesse Sutherland, Steven Bearcub, Logan Sandau, Jay Whitehead, Brandon Lezard, Curtis Whitehawk, Connor Gourneau, Kyler Longie, Russell Littleghost, Dion Gardner and Devon Gardner.
