Vincent Herald, 69, of the Spirit Lake Nation, began his journey into the Spirit World on Sunday, March 24th, 2024.
Procession of friends and family will accompany Vincent from the City Plaza parking lot in Devils Lake ND to St. Micheal Wellness Center (Rec) at 4:00 p.m. on Monday, April 1st, 2024. Viewing to be held at St. Michael Wellness Center after procession. Rosary at 6:30 p.m. by Father Paul Schuster. Then a meal and a wake. On Tuesday, April 2nd at 10:00 a.m. final viewing and a prayer from Father Paul Schuster. Vincent (upon his wishes) will be cremated after the funeral services like his twin brother Virgil. All drum groups are welcome.
Vincent Herald was born on September 12, 1955, the son of Mary Melinda Thompson (James) and William Henry Herald. He went to school at St. Micheal’s Little Flower Catholic School and Maddock. He met Ellen “Susie” Gordon Zamora in 1980 and married her in 1987. He was on Security Patrol in Minneapolis MN for AIM-American Indian Movement in the late 70’s and 80’s. Involved with the motorcycle group Guardian Angels keeping the Minneapolis area safe for minorities. Vincent worked surveillance for major companies like Mystic Lake Casino and Walmart in the 90’s
Vincent Herald is preceded in death by his parents William “Bill” Herald and Mary Melinda (Littleghost) Thompson; maternal grandparents Agnes and James Littleghost, paternal grandparents Sarah and Emil Herald, sisters Celestine Herald, Patsy Herald, Jeanette Herald, Trudy Theresa Brown, Marjorie Kirk, Roxanne Herald and April Herald, brothers William Herald, Darren Herald, Daniel Herald Sr. and twin brother Virgil Herald. A daughter: Deanna Herald.
Vincent is survived by children: Jack Brennan ‘Jei’ Herald-Zamora and Denise Pratt (Dalyce Wambdiska). Brothers: Willis Herald, Donovan Kahnapace, James Thompson Jr., Delbert Herald. Sister: Ronda Mckay. Grandchildren: Hollis, Hollin, Paola, Amira, Trouble, and Kashiz. Beloved Nieces Lorinda Leben and Nicole Ross. Canadian cousins: Eli, Lionel, and Kevin Kahnapace. Cousin: Deborah Herald.
Pallbearers will be Dane Herald, Grant Mckay, Jeremy DeMarce, Jarrett Smith, Virgil Herald, and James Thompson III.
Vincent Lee Herald, 68 of St. Michael, ND passed away on Sunday, March 24, 2024 at CHI, St. Alexius Health, Devils Lake Hospital.
