Virgil David Feather Sr., 65 of rural Tokio, ND was born on July 27, 1951 and died November of 2016 and was found on March 29, 2017. Virgil was born July 27, 1951 in Fort Totten, ND, the son of Delores (Alex) and Melvin Feather Sr. He attended school in Tokio, St. Michael and Wahpeton. He was very proud to receive a Certificate of Forestry from Minnesota. He worked for a time at Sioux Manufacturing Corporation, at Central Steel in Clinton, Iowa and in the potato fields at Northwood. He was an artist all his life and his art work has been found all over the world. Virgil loved horses and was known to ride a bull now and then in his younger days. When he wasn’t doing artwork, he loved western movies, playing cared games, fishing and picking juneberries and plums. He loved spending time with his family. Virgil is survived by his loving family. His wife of 37 years, Vonnie (Lavonne); children Elijah, Dustin, Brandon, Dylan, LaDawna and Virgil Jr.; grandchildren Cayden, Caydenze, Elijah Jr., Caylen, Brayden and Nicole; sister LaVerne Feather; nieces Sharan Ann Feather, Robin Redroad, Kelly Redroad, Kris Redroad, Kris Richotte, Angela Neeland (also his god child), Cheyenne Neeland, Cheryl Longie, Tina Georgeson, Anna Longie, Synthia Longie, Jennifer Longie, Jessica Longie, Samantha Longie, Jasmine Bauer, Shilo Shephen, Autumn Stephen, Kara Longie and Shanell Paul; nephews Stacy Feather Jr., Jason Feather Jr., Robert Redroad Jr., Casey Redroad, Waylon Longie, Curtis Longie, Jerome Neeland, Gary Longie Jr., Conrad Longie, Lance Longie, Kenny Longie Jr., Brian Bauer, Christopher Stephen and Virgil C. Feather and many dear cousins and relatives. Those who have passed to the Spirit World and welcoming Virgil home are his maternal grandparents, James and Mary Louise (Lawrence) Alex; paternal grandparents Henry and Mary Jane (Meade) Feather and god child Angela Neeland. Active Casket Bearers will be Carl Merrick, Marty Alex, Cayden Feather, Christopher Stephen, Curtis Longie, Russell Smith and Stacy Feather Jr. The Wake for Virgil will be held on Saturday, April 29, 2017 at the Tokio Wellness Center beginning at 5:00 p.m. with a Prayer Service at 7:00 p.m. The procession to Tokio will leave at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday from the City Plaza. Funeral Services for Virgil will be held on Sunday, April 30, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. also at the Tokio Wellness Center with Reverend Larry Thiele and Mike and Libby Flowers officiating. Virgil will be laid to rest in the Dakotah Oyate Cemetery, rural Tokio. All Drum Groups and Singers are welcome to share their songs in memory of Virgil.
