Vivian Marie Thiessen was born at Munich, ND on September 3, 1930, daughter of Peter and Myrtle (Krell) Thiessen. She started elementary school at Milton, ND. In the early 1940’s the family moved to Lakota and she completed her education at Lakota High School.
Vivian was united in marriage to Roy V. Wimer on June 7, 1948 at the Lakota Lutheran Church by Reverend M.A. Olson. They made their home in several locations after marriage including Tolna, Lakota, Crary and Lawton. Roy died on January 5, 2011. After his death, Vivian would move to Lakota.
First and foremost, Vivian was a devoted wife, loving mother and grandmother. She faced many challenges in her life, but always with faith and determination. After a motor vehicle accident in 1962 left Roy with a long recovery time, Vivian went to work at the Armstrong Café in Lakota. She was a caretaker and also was working to support the family. When Roy began working for Hulstrand Construction on the road crew, she would load up the trailer with the five kids, and all the supplies they would need to be on the road for the next 4 months as Roy’s work took him from town to town.
Vivian’s life as a homemaker required a lot of baking and cooking, but she was excellent at both and it gave her much joy to make her families favorite dishes, to host holidays and special events at her home and to be able to offer fresh doughnuts to whoever stopped by for a visit. She enjoyed Artex paints and other craft projects.
If you knew Vivian at all you knew she was all about family. She loved them all unconditionally and taught them of the unconditional love of her Lord and Savior.
Vivian is survived by her loving family. Her children Kathleene Anderson, Lakota, ND, Roberta and her husband James Klindt of Brocket, ND, Michelle and her husband Doug Brotten also of Brocket, Jeff Wimer of Lawton and Timothy Wimer and his wife Andrea of Forest Lake, MN; daughter-in-law Debby Wimer of LaCrosse, KS; thirteen grandchildren; twenty-four great grandchildren; many nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Roy, her son Gordon on October 27, 2016, grandchildren TJ Wimer and Crystal Brotten, brother Walter Thiessen and sisters Jenny Johanson, Dorothy Krom and Grace Johnson.
Casket Bearers will be Vivian’s great grandson Trey Vanderplaats and her nephews, Lester, Elliott, Richard, Craig and Darryl Wimer. Music will be provided by Vivian’s granddaughters Nichole Norgren, Amanda Brotten and Chloe Sanford and Ruth Stevens, pianist.
