William Jack Beckstrand

William “Jack” Beckstrand, 64 of Warwick, ND passed away on March 13, 2018 in Fargo, ND. 

Funeral Services for Jack will be held on Saturday, June 9, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. at the Warwick Community Center with graveside services at the Warwick Cemetery. Pastor Paul Young will officiate. Military Honors will be accorded by the Neathery-Simensen Post #756, Devils Lake Veterans of Foreign Wars and the North Dakota Military Funeral Honors Team. 

William Jack, was born on June 26, 1953 in North Dakota. He was adopted by John and Inez (Milde) Beckstrand as a young child and was reared on the family farm and educated in Warwick. 

On October 15, 1971, Jack entered the United States Army and served his country during the Vietnam War. He served in Europe and Germany and was honorably discharged with the rank of Specialist 4th Class on March 26, 1974.  Jack graduated from the University of Texas in Austin with a degree in Criminal Justice.  He worked in criminal justice as a Deputy Sheriff in Texas for many years and also operated his own Private Investigator Service.  For the past few years, Jack has made his home in Warwick and Fargo. 

Jim’s passion was to care about people, friends and family. He loved telling stories of times past and present at family get-togethers or just over a cup of coffee.  He loved animals and gardening and shared both with family.

Jack, a Presidential appointee, Commander of VFW Post 101, former Army Criminal Investigative Command soldier, Vietnam Veteran and true American Patriot.  Rest in the loving arms of Jesus.

Jack is survived by his dear sister Julie Beckstrand and Jim Tallant; nephews and nieces Jeremiah C. “Geronimo” White, Elisha (Chance) Miller, Justin Beckstrand, Jon (Natalie) Beckstrand, Sandra (Charles) Schantz and Joanna (Adam Berger) Beckstrand; many great nieces and great nephews; sister-in-law Cynthia Beckstrand; biological brothers and sisters Mary Ann Brucker, Mike (Helen) Skalicky, twins Doug Haven and Darlene Haven; aunt Gladys Jacobson; special family friend Chris Richards and many cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother Jim Beckstrand; biological siblings David Brucker, Bonnie Skalicky Brown, Terry Brucker and an infant sister.
