Beverly Jane Sager

Beverly Jane (Aronson) Sager, 78 of Devils Lake formerly of Crary ND passed away on Thursday, March 9, 2023 at CHI, St. Alexius Health, Devils Lake Hospital.

Beverly Jane was born in Devils Lake to Melford and Beatrice (Severtson) Aronson on March 20, 1944. She grew up on the family farm by Crary. She attended her school years at Crary Public School. She was active in Glee Club, Yearbook and Pep Club. She graduated in 1962. 

Beverly was a member of the First Lutheran Church of Crary, where she sang in the choir, was a member of the Ladies Aide and Luther League. When the First Lutheran Church of Crary closed, she became a member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Devils Lake. Beverly was a 50 year member of Wheatland Homemakers.

In Beverly’s younger years, she worked at Majestic Cleaners, Dairy Queen and Hamburger Host. She met the love of her life, Gene Sager while she was a car hop at the Hamburger Host. They were married August 2, 1963. They were blessed with two sons, Gregory Gene and Lonnie Alan. She was a stay-at-home mom, babysat and was then employed for Hahns Ceramics and Creative Impressions for 30 years. She was always a dedicated employee and was awarded Chamber of the Year Employee.

Beverly’s favorite pastimes were drives to White Horse Hill several times a week, loved doing crafts, designing wedding flowers and doing ceramics. Her greatest joy was being a devoted wife, mom, grandmother and great grandmother, sister, mother-in-law and friend. She was a kind and caring person. We will miss her dearly.

Beverly leaves behind her son Lonnie (Christy) Sager, Buxton ND; devoted daughter-in-law Marie Sager, Crary; special grandchildren Trista Sager (Matt Olson), Grand Forks, Tanner (Autumn) Sager, Sisseton SD, Travis Sager, Crary and Courtney (Cole) Franck, Helena MT; special great grandchildren Mikah and Izuza; brother Myrle (Darlene) Aronson, Sarles ND and sister Carol Johnson, Devils Lake; sister-in-law Judy Aronson also Devils Lake; nieces and nephew, great nieces and great nephews, great great niece Beatrice Morgan, cousins and friends; god daughters Wanda Nygaard, Becky Loyd, Kristin Hoff, Sonja Knutson and Merissa Halvorson.

She is preceded in death by her loving husband Gene Sager and loving son Greg Sager, parents Melford and Beatrice Aronson, brother Arnold Aronson, brother-in-law Jerry Johnson, nephews Gerald Johnson, great niece Morgan Johnson, mother-in-law and father-in-law Hilda and Lyle Sager, aunts, uncles and cousins.

Funeral Services for Beverly will be held on Saturday, March 18, 2023 at 3:00 p.m. at the Gilbertson Funeral Home, Devils Lake with Pastor Brandon Wegener officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday from 11:00 a.m. until time of service.  Burial will be in the spring in the Crary Cemetery.
