Eva J. Schumacher

Eva J. Schumacher, 66 of Devils Lake formerly of Rolla, ND passed away on Monday, May 13, 2019 at her home in the loving care of her husband and Altru Hospice.

Eva Jenny McDougall was born on October 9, 1952 at Minot, ND the daughter of Douglas and Lois (Hart) McDougall. Her father was with the U.S. Border Patrol so lived various places in her early years but attended Rolla Public School and graduated from Rolla High School. 

She attended Jamestown College for a year and was active in the music department. Eva then continued her education at the Josef’s School of Hair Design in Grand Forks, ND.  She began her career at Mae’s Salon in Devils Lake and then for over 40 years she was employed at Adeline’s.  She earned a faithful clientele who loved her and she loved them.  She was always fun loving and had that contagious smile that brought joy to all. 

Eva met her soul-mate Francis Schumacher in 1986 and married the love of her life in 1999. They continued to make their home in Devils Lake through the years. 

Eva was an only child and cared for her mother until she died in February of 2018. In Eva’s younger years she enjoyed many happy times at Lake Killarney with her family and she was also a WSI Instructor at Lake Killarney and had achieved the highest certification possible as a WSI. She also drove Dragster’s and raced snowmobiles.  Her love of cars continued after moving to Devils Lake and she and Fran participated in many Devils Run Parades and the many activities of that weekend. 

Eva was an animal lover, especially cats and she loved people and spending happy, good times with friends at Thirsty’s.

Eva was a loving and devoted wife, daughter and dear friend to many.

Eva is survived by her husband Fran Schumacher, her best feline friend Buddy and her family of co-workers at Adeline’s.

She was preceded in death by her parents Douglas and Lois.

Funeral Services for Eva will be held on Wednesday, May 22, 2019 at 10:30 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church, Devils Lake with Reverend Lori Broschat officiating. Friends may call at the church two hours prior to the funeral service on Wednesday.

Honorary Bearers will be Jay Taber, Jay McKenna, Mickey McKenna, Richard Dearton, Mark Kraft and Justin Kraft.
