He later went away to Flandreau Indian High School where he finished and graduate in 1961. Joe later met and married his first wife, Mary Morin. From this marriage an infant son was born baby Joe Herman. Sadly Mary and Baby Joe both passed away during the birth of his infant son “Joe”.
Joseph later met and married his 2nd wife, Susie Amos in California, of this marriage they had 3 children. Joe and Susie later divorced. He then met his 3rd wife Carol Gravelle, of this marriage they had a son together. Carol sadly passed away on April 1st, 2020, due to cancer.

He worked as a security guard, then on the drop team and most recently and currently was in the Surveillance Department. Joe had just received his certificate for 25 years of employment in October which he was very proud of. Joe loved to laugh and tease his coworkers. He always had a big smile on his face and a joke for everybody he came into contact with.
Joe was diagnosed with lung cancer in both of his lungs in mid-September. Joe just finished 40 plus rounds of radiation and chemotherapy and got to ring the bell for finishing. He was the meaning of a true warrior. He was a fighter and a survivor for his kids, grandkids and great grandchildren. They were his determination to fight this cancer and live. But sadly, he lost his battle.
Joe loved to play cards, hunt, fish, and working on cars was one of his biggest passions in his younger days. But his most favorite thing was spending time with his children, grandchildren and his family. He loved it whenever family and friends would pop in for a visit and spend time with him.
